Swagelok® Welding System M200 Power Supply Receives 2010 Golden Gas Award
SOLON, Ohio --In recognition of its contributions to gas systems technology, the Swagelok® welding system M200 power supply has been honored by Gases & Instrumentation International in its 2010 Golden Gas Awards. The M200 power supply received the only Gold Award in the weld category. The Golden Gas competition evaluates products on their ability to solve an important challenge to the gas industry. This is the third year in a row that a Swagelok product has been honored with a Gold Award.
The M200 was rated by the judges on several criteria: technological innovation; environmental attributes; superior specifications in terms of power requirements, speed, footprint, maintenance; cost effectiveness, and other quality considerations. Products were judged in eight different categories by a panel of industry experts.
"This is the finest array of products we have ever seen," said Paul Nesdore, editor and publisher of Gases & Instrumentation. "Our judges, representing decades of experience in all aspects of gases technologies, had a difficult time as the products entered represented the cutting-edge of gases technology and implementation."
The Swagelok welding system M200 power supply offers easy-to-use touch-screen operation for orbital welding. Users can choose from one of three forms to enter weld programs, including automatic weld schedule programming. The M200's automatic shield gas control (patent pending) simplifies set-up of shielding gas, requiring no use of a separate flow meter. A software update released in November 2009 upgraded the graphical interface for improved tracking of live weld progress and recording of weld data.
"The M200 is designed to enhance welder efficiency and accuracy," said John Glessman, product manager, Swagelok Company. "Our aim is to provide precision and control in a portable package."
Multi-language capability is built in to the M200, requiring no separate programming or special ordering. Built-in languages are English, French, German, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Swedish, and Chinese. Universal voltage input (100 to 230 V [ac]) requires only a cord/plug change to accommodate an input voltage.
The M200 works with all currently available Swagelok weld heads. It includes four USB ports, USB device (output) port, VGA output, and serial port. All gas and electrical connections, plus the integral, high-speed thermal printer are easily accessed from the unit's side panels.

The M200 is the third product to receive a Gold Award from the Golden Gas Awards program. The Swagelok ALD liquid injection valve won in 2008 and the Swagelok® thermal immersion diaphragm valve won in 2009, both in the Cylinders/Packaging/Valves category.
