Dornier Introduces the New Medilas D FlexiPulse Laser

MIAMI, May 16 -- Dornier MedTech America introduces the new Medilas D FlexiPulse at the International Vein Congress on May 16 in Miami, Florida. This state-of-the-art system combines Dornier's proven diode technology and 940 wavelength to create the ideal solution for the treatment of both spider and varicose veins.

Efficiency is maximized due to the advanced, ergonomic design of the Dornier FlexiPulse. The laser is equipped with a high-resolution touch sensitive color display that is intuitive and allows quick adjustments to all treatment parameters. Customized treatment parameters can be stored for one- touch recall and simple set-up. The small footprint, lightweight design, and integrated handle make transporting the laser easy.

The 120 Watt Medilas D FlexiPulse can be operated in either a pulsed or continuous treatment mode. When combined with one of the handpieces or thin, flexible fibers, the system can be used for trancutaneous or endoluminal procedures as well as a variety of surgical applications. The laser comes equipped with the proprietary Lightguide Protection System, known as LPS(TM) that automatically disables the laser if the sensor detects light emissions due to excessive heat at the tip. This feature enhances safety by preventing damage to both the vein as well as the fiber.

"Dornier is excited to offer this next generation laser, the Medilas D FlexiPulse. Unlike other lasers, we believe the higher power offers greater treatment flexibility and offers the physician and patient the optimal solution for the treatment of spider and varicose veins," commented Dave Eng, President of Dornier MedTech, Inc.
