New Compact Telecom Surge Suppressor Delivers More Functionality at a Very Affordable Price


Souderton, PA-April 1 5, 2002- Amplifier Research and EM Test have introduced a Telecom Surge Simulator that is compact in size, big in functionality at an attractive price.

The TSS500M/6B meets the requirements of Bellcore GR 1089 for first and second-level lightning surge on two or four telecom ports. It simulates the 2/10, 10/360 and 10/1000 surge waveforms up to 5kV; all in a single 9U high package. Pulse repetition rates vary from one every two seconds for the 2/10 pulse up to one per minute for the 10/1000 pulse. This high repetition rate allows much faster testing than is generally available because of a new high-energy power supply.

Other features include a built-in voltmeter and current meter to measure and record the peak surge voltage and current, standard IEEE 488 and RS232 computer interfaces and a CRO oscilloscope trigger. Optional ISM IEC software for control and complete reporting is available, as is a CNB500 coupling network for surging up to 12 pair of telecom ports with the 10/360 pulse.
