Newpoint Launches New Line of Component-Style Surge Protectors Designed for the Ultimate in Protection and Convenience for Home Theater

Company Utilizes Proprietary Technology to Develop a New Generation of Component-Style Surge Protectors That Offer a New Level of Protection and Convenience to Home Theater Enthusiasts

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5 / -- Newpoint, a leading manufacturer and distributor of innovative, cutting-edge power management solutions, has announced its Theatre Director(TM) family of surge protectors for home theater owners. The company will be showcasing the new line of products at the 2006 International CES tradeshow from January 5 to 8 in Las Vegas.

"Home theater applications are the fastest growing segment of the surge protection category," said Brian Dunfee, Senior Product Manager for Connectivity and Home Theater Products at Newpoint. "Our goal with Theatre Director is to offer the rapidly growing population of home theater owners an advanced-technology product to protect their investment at an affordable price. Theatre Director incorporates our proprietary Smart Over-voltage (s-OV) technology, which is the best method of surge protection available today. In addition, we have moved the surge protector off the floor and into the rack of components for a stackable arrangement, which locates all of the AC outlets, coax, networking and phone jacks right next to all of the audio/video equipment for the ultimate in connectivity convenience."

The Theatre Director line features Newpoint's proprietary s-OV technology, which utilizes a microprocessor to trip relays disconnecting both the hot and neutral AC power lines when an over-voltage condition is detected. The s-OV solution completely isolates connected equipment to eradicate the danger of potential damage to sensitive electronic equipment during an over-voltage event, such as a lightning strike or damaged wiring. After the event, s-OV automatically resets the surge protector to restore the delivery of clean, safe power. For additional protection against the everyday spikes and surges caused by household appliances turning on and off, Theatre Director utilizes the latest in metal oxide varistor (MOV) technology, dubbed V3(TM) advanced surge protection technology by Newpoint. These innovated MOVs offer 27% more capacity than traditional MOVs, which provides better protection and longer lifespan.

In addition to providing the best method of equipment protection, Newpoint's s-OV technology also protects the surge protector itself by disconnecting power to the MOVs during an over-voltage event. Unlike traditional MOV-only based surge protectors that must be replaced periodically when their full capacity has been reached, Theatre Director's s-OV technology gives it a virtually unlimited lifespan.

The entry-level model 204200 provides eight AC outlets, a 4320 joule rating, two sets of gold-plated coaxial cable protection and 1-in/2-out splitter RJ11 modem/phone protection. The unit carries a $500,000 connected equipment warranty and an MSRP of $149.99.

The mid-range model 204210 upgrades support to ten AC outlets and a joule rating of 5040. It also upgrades the coaxial cable protection to three sets of gold-plated connectors and adds RJ45 networking protection, while including the 1-in/2-out RJ11 modem/phone jack splitter protection. This model offers a $750,000 connected equipment warranty with an MSRP of $199.99.

At the high end of the family, model 204220 offers twelve AC outlets and a 6120 joule rating. The coaxial cable protection is upgraded to four sets of gold-plated connectors, and the RJ45 networking and RJ11 modem/phone protection are also included. This comprehensive feature set is rounded out by a $1,000,000 connected equipment warranty, and the MSRP is $249.99.

All models include Newpoint's proprietary s-OV technology; innovative V3 advanced surge protection technology; ClearConnect(TM) Power Conditioning, with up to 80dB attenuation for EMI/RFI noise filtering; extra-long 8ft. power cord with right-angle plug; color-coded LED indicators that monitor voltage level, surge protection and proper household wiring. The Theatre Director line of surge protectors will be commercially availability in April 2006.
