Surface-Mount HiCV MLCCs are offered as 25 or 50 V parts.

Press Release Summary:

Suited for automotive and consumer electronics, EIA 1210 case size capacitors have 100% pure matte, tin-plated terminations that lend to solderability; tin/lead termination is also available for high-reliability and military applications. These HiCV, multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) offer 4.7 and 6.8 µF capacitance values in 25 V rated part type and 10 µF in 50 V rated part type. Applications include decoupling, by-pass, filtering, and energy storage.

KEMET Expands Product Line with Surface-Mount HiCV MLCCs 1210 Capacitors Pack a Powerful Punch

Greenville, South Carolina (February 14, 2007) - KEMET Corporation (NYSE:KEM) further expands its ceramic capacitor portfolio with EIA 1210 case size capacitors, offering the same capacitance and voltage extensions as its newly expanded EIA 1812 line-only in a smaller package.

The capacitance values offered are 4.7uF and 6.8uF in a 25-volt rated part type and 10uF in a 50-volt rated part type.

"Customer demand for more capacitance has translated into thinner dielectric layers and a higher layer count," says Corey Antoniades, Associate Product Manager for the Ceramic Business Unit. "Our advanced sheet-making and laminating technology has allowed us to meet these demands."

These HiCV capacitors are suitable for both automotive and consumer-oriented electronics and devices such as laptop and desktop computers, digital cameras, gaming systems, LCD's, handheld devices, disc drives and more. Applications include decoupling, by-pass, filtering and energy storage.

Superior solderability is achieved thanks to 100% pure matte, tin-plated terminations; tin/lead termination is also available for those customers needing the capacitors for high-reliability and military applications.

The capacitors are being offered in an X7R dielectric with an operating temperature range between -55°C and +125°C, with zero bias capacitance shift limited to ±15% over that range. Capacitance tolerances offered include both K(±10%) and M(±20%). They meet all requirements of the Automotive Electronic Council's AEC-Q200-Rev C and are available in a very cost-friendly range of $.20 - $.32 per capacitor.

KEMET Corporation provides industry-leading, high-performance capacitance solutions, including the world's most complete line of surface-mount capacitor technologies across tantalum, ceramic and solid aluminum dielectrics-along with the world's best quality, delivery and service.

KEMET's common stock is listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol KEM. KEMET is an ISO 9001:2000 and ISO/TS 16949:2002 registered company.
