Super-High-Definition 4k Multi-Purpose Camera to Headline Canon's Upcoming Technology Offerings

Canon Middle East, leader in imaging solutions, has outlined details of the company's range of new products and concept imaging technologies that were unveiled at Canon EXPO in Paris recently. The new technologies from Canon are expected to shape the future of imaging for the consumer, professional, business, and healthcare environment.
During Canon EXPO, the company demonstrated new technologies from image capture through to mixed reality interaction and digital radiography. In the imaging domain, Canon's innovations include the world's first multi-band camera; ultra-high resolution cameras, ultra-high sensitivity CMOS sensor cameras, and a multi-purpose camera which, with its compact and lightweight design, offers a single-device solution for a full range of business-use needs, including both video and photography. The camera is capable of shooting super-high-definition 4K video with a resolution four times greater than Full HD. Featuring a newly developed 2/3 inch, 8 megapixel CMOS sensor capable of super-high-definition video and photography at frame rates in excess of 60 frames per second, the camera enables high-speed continuous shooting and high quality slow-motion playback. The camera features a compact 24-480 mm high-power, wide-angle 20x optical zoom lens with aperture settings from F1.8 to 3.8 (35mm film equivalent) and is powered by a new fully electronically-controlled lens drive system.
In terms of emerging technology, Canon will introduce ultra high resolution LCD panels with up to eight megapixel resolution, while in the medical imaging sphere Canon is set to launch its next generation X-ray imaging and cutting-edge DNA imaging, its fully-integrated digital radiography system and the Canon CR2 digital retina camera.
During Canon EXPO, the company also demonstrated the image capture of a retina using the stereo photographic mode of the Canon CX-1 digital retinal camera, which is then recreated in 3D using two Canon WUX10 Mark II Medical projectors. These high quality 3D representations provide healthcare professionals with high quality images, which can be used for review and study purposes.
Canon also recently unveiled its High Sensitivity and High Frame Rate Dynamic X-Ray Imaging. This technology is being introduced via the new Canon Mobile C-arm, the first fully integrated Digital Radiography system available from Canon for healthcare professionals. This solution is also the first to be equipped with Canon's newly developed X-ray Flat Panel Detector, the CSX.
Last year saw Canon develop the world's largest CMOS image sensor, with a chip size measuring 202 x 205 mm. At 202 x 205 mm, the newly developed CMOS sensor is among the largest chips that can be produced from a 12-inch (300 mm) wafer, and is approximately 40 times the size of Canon's largest commercial CMOS sensor.
Further, Canon has also successfully developed an APS-H-size CMOS image sensor that delivers an image resolution of approximately 120 megapixels (13,280 x 9,184 pixels), the world's highest level of resolution for its size.
Other latest innovations from Canon include the introduction of the Interactive Mixed Reality, a visual experience that combines the real and virtual worlds in real-time in which the user not only 'sees' images in a visual space, but also controls and creates them.
