NKK Switches Announces New Subminiature Switches

A series of toggles, rockers, pushbuttons and slides ideal for logic level applications

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (August 23, 2004) - NKK Switches announces the release of their A series subminiature toggle, rocker, pushbutton and slide switches, which are one third the size of conventional miniature switches and were specifically designed for logic level applications.

The A series of toggles, rockers and pushbuttons are washable and incorporate NKK's award winning STC (Sliding Twin Crossbar) mechanism. This contact design ensures unparalleled switching reliability and a smoother positive detent action. These devices also feature a completely-sealed body construction, allowing them to withstand the automated soldering and cleaning techniques standard in today's manufacture and assembly of finished products.

The A series toggles and rockers are available in both single pole and double pole models with a comprehensive offering of eleven circuits in momentary and maintained actions. Engineers can specify toggle actuators in a myriad of styles and lengths. Options include standard bats, antistatic levers, flatted levers, snap on paddles and colored sleeves. Rockers styles are available in three different sizes. Both actuator styles feature an extensive range of color options.

Pushbuttons are offered in single and double pole momentary circuits and can be ordered with various plunger lengths. Caps are available in two different diameters, either .201" or .295," and come standard in either black, red or white.

Slide-actuated devices are also constructed using NKK's STC contact design and are available in various actuator lengths. In addition, they feature an anti-static superstructure of carbon-impregnated polyamide to prevent static discharge to the contacts. These devices are offered in single pole or double pole maintained circuits.

NKK's A series of switches are rated 0.4VA Maximum @ 28V AC/DC maximum. Their subminiature size saves space on PC boards. Engineers can choose between several different mounting options including straight PC in bracketed and unbracketed models, vertical and right angle mounts. All terminals are molded in and epoxy-sealed and ultrasonically welded to lock out flux and other contaminants. Terminal spacing is .100" X .100" conforming to standard PC board grid spacing. Matching indicators with LEDs in red, green or amber can also be ordered. The breadth of this series allows design engineers the flexibility to configure to specifications depending upon the challenges faced.

A leading designer and producer of electromechanical switches, NKK Switches offers one of the industry's most extensive selections of illuminated, process sealed, miniature, specialty and surface mount switches.
