Iomega Announces New Iomega StorCenter Pro NAS 450r
New Rack-Mount Powerhouse Broadens Iomega's Extensive NAS Lineup for SMBs
SAN DIEGO, April 12 -- Iomega Corporation (NYSE:IOM), a global leader in data storage and protection, today announced a new rack-mount addition to its extensive line of network attached storage models for small and mid-sized businesses: the new Iomega® StorCenter(TM) Pro NAS 450r Series with print server capability.
Featuring advanced performance, capacity, and energy efficiency in a 1U form factor, the new Iomega StorCenter Pro NAS 450r series featuring 1 TB* and 2 TB models is the ideal rack-mount file server for protecting and sharing critical data at small to medium-sized businesses, corporate workgroups, and remote offices.
Iomega is showing the new StorCenter Pro NAS 450r for the first time at next week's Storage Networking World tradeshow, beginning April 16 in San Diego. The product is slated to begin shipping next month.

The Windows Standard and the NAS 450r Series
The new Iomega NAS 450r series utilizes Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2003 R2, resulting in seamless support for Windows file and print services and standard Windows backup and security applications.

Supported Windows services include Distributed File System (DFS-N and DFS-R), Encrypting File System (EFS), Volume Shadow Copy Services (VSS), Change Journal, Integrated SRM and File Server Resource Manager (FSRM), Active Directory Service, Indexing Service, Print Management Console, and Print Serving with a five printer limit (upgrade to unlimited printers available).
High Performance, Energy-Efficient Design
Hardware-based RAID, hot-swappable 7200-RPM SATA II drives, and Dual-Core Intel® Xeon® processor technology help the Iomega StorCenter Pro NAS 450r Series achieve excellent performance and energy efficiency.
Intel's Dual-Core Intel Xeon processor technology offers up to 3 times the performance of previous-generation single-core Xeon processors while operating within a 65 watt envelope, significantly improving energy efficiency and performance per watt.
Four hot-swappable 7200-RPM SATA II drives combine with hardware-based RAID 0 (Striping), 1 (Mirroring), or 5 (Striping with Parity), offering flexible options in performance and data protection. RAID security minimizes downtime and provides data retrieval and availability should a drive fail.
Other hardware features on the new NAS 450r include dual Gigabit Ethernet connections, ECC memory, and an Ultra 320 SCSI (VHDC1) connection for high-speed archival backup.
Painless Installation and Management
Deploying an Iomega StorCenter Pro NAS 450r Series storage server is virtually automatic with Iomega's plug-and-play configuration and self-discovery software, requiring no network downtime. Windows Storage Server 2003 R2 comes standard with unlimited client access licenses (CALs), so the 450r integrates seamlessly into existing Microsoft Windows networks.
An Advanced Client Backup and Disaster Recovery Solution
Iomega provides Touch-Free(TM) backup software for client PCs with CA BrightStor ARCserve OEM edition software with disaster recovery, version 11.5, along with EMC Retrospect Express software for client backup and recovery (5-client license included; additional licenses available from Iomega).
Client PCs on the network can choose continuous backup or scheduled backup to the 450r Series server. With continuous backup, every file the user creates or changes on a client PC can be automatically copied to the 450r Series server as a backup destination. Data security is further enhanced with EMC® Retrospect® Express software's ability to back up multiple file revisions and its easy configuration of scheduled backups if preferred.

Microsoft Windows Print Server Option
All Iomega NAS 450r storage servers come with Microsoft Windows Print Server to provide centralized support and management for up to five network printers. Support for unlimited network printers is an available upgrade option.
Price, Availability, and Requirements
The 1TB Iomega StorCenter Pro NAS 450r with print storage server is expected to be available worldwide next month for $3,999. The 2 TB Iomega StorCenter(TM) Pro NAS 450r with print storage server is expected to be available worldwide in the same timeframe for $4,999. (All prices are U.S. suggested list.) A 4 TB StorCenter Pro NAS 450r model is expected to ship later this year.
Upgrade options include Microsoft Windows Print Server support for an unlimited number of network printers and Iomega's Gold Plus service plan. All 450r series servers include a standard three-year warranty with telephone, e-mail, and web-based customer support.
