Overview
The IBM TotalStorage(TM) FAStT family of storage servers is being enhanced with several new features and capabilities:
A FAStT600 Turbo feature for the FAStT600 that offers increased performance and cache size
A FlashCopy® option for the FAStT600
VolumeCopy, a new function that offers the ability to make a complete logical drive copy within a FAStT Storage Server
New release, V8.4 of the FAStT Storage Manager
Continuing to build upon the characteristics of the FAStT family, these new features expand the possible uses of the FAStT600, FAStT700, and FAStT900 Storage Servers. The turbo feature for the FAStT600 increases cache size to 2 gigabytes (GB) and supports up to a 70% increase in I/Os per second compared to the FAStT600 without the turbo feature. The FAStT600 without the turbo feature continues to be available for entry-level storage. The turbo feature can be added either on an initial order or as a field upgrade. The FAStT600 without the turbo feature is also being extended for larger configurations (up to 8.2 terabytes (TB)), more storage partitions (up to 16), and FlashCopy advanced copy function for quick point-in-time logical drive copies. With the turbo feature, the FAStT600 now supports configurations of over 16 TB, has options for up to 64 storage partitions, and supports both FlashCopy and VolumeCopy features for both point-in-time volume copies as well as full volume replications. The FAStT600 turbo feature is provided together with a new release of the FAStT Storage Manager V8.4 that is designed to support up to 256 logical drives per storage partition, array groups greater than 2 TB, and SCSI-3 Persistent Reservation (necessary for enhanced server clustering applications). Storage Manager V8.4 will also be available as an upgrade for FAStT900 and FAStT700 Storage Servers.

The IBM TotalStorage FAStT family of storage products are designed to offer a set of building blocks for implementing or expanding Fibre Channel (FC)-based SANs. The FAStT product family offers scalable storage capacity ranging from 36 GB to over 32 TB to help support growing storage requirements.
FAStT Storage Servers are designed to be easy to install and manage, using the FAStT Storage Manager that is included with every FAStT Storage Server. FAStT products offer a choice of performance and price points to best address customer SAN needs. Multiple FAStT Storage Servers can be centrally managed from a common FAStT management console from virtually anywhere on existing LAN infrastructure. Advanced copy service functions, such as FlashCopy, VolumeCopy, and Remote Mirror, can help address data management, data protection, and disaster recovery needs.
