Spindles employ permanent-magnet synchronous motors.

Press Release Summary:

Type SD 60122 and SD 60124, 120 mm spindles produce 10 Nm constant torque throughout entire speed range. Operating speed range is rated from 200 to 20,000 rpm. Low-speed capabilities offer possibilities for hard mold finishing, work in harder materials, and rigid tapping. With nominal power output at maximum speed equal to 26.8 hp, spindles are available in HSK 40 or ISO 30 taper. Tool-in-position sensors are standard.

Precise Corporation to Introduce Redesigned 120 MM Spindle Series and New Retrofit Program at IMTS 2002

RACINE, Wisconsin-June 10, 2002...The Precise Corporation will introduce a redesigned, more powerful 120 mm series of high speed electric spindles with new synchronous motors in Booth D-4280 at IMTS 2002. The company also will announce a machine retrofit program that will greatly simplify the integration of its spindles with a wide range of CNC machines.

An exciting new motor technology has helped precise engineers double the torque output of their 120mm diameter spindle series. The new Type SD 60122 and SD 60124 spindle designs incorporate specially designed permanent-magnet synchronous motors to produce 10 N-m constant torque throughout its entire speed range. In addition to the tremendous torque increase, the synchronous motor technology offers other advancements as well. The new SD 60122 / 60124 spindles offer an extremely wide operating speed range of 200 - 20,000 rpm, and torque output is 10 N-m throughout this entire range. The new low-speed capabilities of these spindles will greatly enhance their application range, offering exciting new possibilities for hard mold finishing, work in harder materials. Even rigid tapping now is possible. Nominal power output at maximum speed is 20 kW (26.8 hp). The spindles are available in either HSK 40 or ISO 30 taper, and tool-in-position sensors are standard.

Customers looking to retrofit existing machines with a precise high-speed spindle system are now able to easily order a complete, turnkey retrofit package from precise. The company's machine retrofit program is the result of an agreement with Numatix/Pro Tech, Inc., Farmington Hills, Michigan. Through Numatix/Pro Tech, The Precise Corporation offers complete retrofit services for all CNC machines, including installation of any precise high speed spindle system, integration of the precise system with the machine control, and adaptation of the machine's toolchanger. Pro Tech can also offer full rebuilding of the machine and new CNC controls, to take full advantage of the high-speed spindle. Typical of the many machines that can be rebuilt and retrofitted through the program include those manufactured by Haas, Sharnoa, Hurco and Fadal.

Precise High Speed Spindle Systems will be shown at the Precise Booth D-4280 during IMTS 2002. Additional information will be available at the booth or from The Precise Corporation, P.O. Box 08500, Racine, WI 53408-5000, USA. U.S. Telephone: 800-333-6173.
