Spindle Attachments increase speed to 50,000 rpm.

Press Release Summary:

Series HES 50/40 attachments, for use with small-diameter end mills and drills, regulate and combine speed and torque to achieve precision processing. They utilize brushless DC motors with rare earth magnets. Precision angular ball bearings in front and rear assemblies provide rigidity in both radial and thrust directions. Available in 3 tapers (BT/NT/CT), HES attachments perform at speeds from 6,000 to 50,000 rpm, with power levels up to 210 W.

Original Press Release:

Increase Milling Machine and Machining Center Speeds to 50,000 rpm with NSK's HES50/40 Series

Schaumburg, IL (August 7, 2002) - NSK's Ultra-Precision High-Speed Motor Spindle attachments, HES 50/40 Series, adds speed to milling machines and machining centers. Designed for use with small diameter end mills and drills, the HES 50/40 regulates and combines speed and torque to achieve precision processing. Available in three tapers - BT/NT/CT. The HES performs at speeds from 6,000 - 50,000 RPM, with power levels of up to 210W. Reaching high speeds is one thing, maintaining them is another. In NSK studies, where spindle speeds remained at 40,000 rpm with no load, the HES operated for over 5,000 continuous hours. Extreme power levels are made possible through the use of a brushless DC motor that utilizes a rare earth magnet. Brushless construction not only results in higher power, but in increased durability, reliability and uptime. The absence of a carbon brush in the motor minimizes the HES' motor wear and increases its service life. Strong rigidity in both radial and thrust directions is achieved through the use of two precision angular ball bearings in the front an rear assemblies.
