Spectrum Analyzer covers entire C-band.

Press Release Summary:

Capable of measuring spans up to complete band, BOSA-C can reach 10 MHz resolution and 80 dB dynamic range simultaneously. All-optical technology avoids electrical conversion and filtering to enable real-time measurements. Intended for design and test of active components, product allows optical source designers to reach real noise floor of SUT. Software can register screenshots of measurement as well as videos that proof dynamic evolution of components/systems.

Original Press Release:

Introduction of the Enhanced BOSA-C at ECOC-05

The new BOSA-C covers the C-band (L-band on request), offering this way a cost effective solution, and will be introduced during the ECOC-05 exhibition in Glasgow, including live demos, in the stand 413 (/414).

With the unbeatable resolution of 0.08pm (10MHz) and extended dynamic range of 80dB now, the new BOSA-C offers also the possibility of measuring big spans up to the complete band reaching always those outstanding specified (not typical) resolution and dynamic range simultaneously. Thanks to our proprietary all-optical technology that avoids electrical conversion and filtering, the BOSA performs real time measurements. In addition, an application for automated chirp measurement (alfa parameter) will be available as software upgrade this autumn.

Originally intended for the design and test of active components, the BOSA allows designers and manufacturers of optical sources reaching the real noise floor of the SUT (Signal Under Test), usually hidden by the dynamic range of the measurement systems based on heterodyne methods. The real time and high resolution of the BOSA make it an easy task the study of RF signals transmitted over fibre. The broad measurement spans is ideal for the characterization of laser combs and pulsed lasers.

In general, the BOSA offers researchers the possibility to go beyond the existing technology barriers when the issue is resolution and simultaneous dynamic range. The new software is able to register not only screenshots of the measurement but also small videos that proof the dynamic evolution (in real time) of components and systems
