Sound Enclosure features pneumatic operation.

Press Release Summary:

Sound Cap addresses sound waves emanating from vibratory feeder bowl that rise straight up and out from tooling areas. Built with aluminum extrusion frame anchored to steel base, design includes adjustable leveling pads, dual stainless steel constant force springs, chromed shafting, and 25 in. stroke pneumatic cylinder that promotes access to feeder bowl. Cap is balanced and sprung so that it lifts to top of stroke in case of air pressure loss.

Old School Sound Enclosures Move Over for Pneumatic Sound Cap

Action Feed Systems recently unveiled a first in the sound enclosure, noise reduction area for vibratory feed systems. The currently released design includes an aluminum extrusion frame anchored to a steel base, adjustable leveling pads, dual stainless steel constant force springs, chromed shafting and a 25" stroke pneumatic cylinder which provides plenty of clearance for access to the feeder bowl.

The idea has been progressively refined over the years and was developed after testing revealed that the majority of the sound waves emanating from a vibratory feeder bowl rise straight up and out from the tooling areas.

The Sound Cap addresses this source of noise while allowing much greater access to bowl. The access is provided without the hassle of removing metal panels and working around and through the support framework standard on typical sound enclosure designs.

With the pneumatic actuation of the lifting and lowering of the Sound Cap, complete access is available at the flick of a switch. As a safety measure, the cap is balanced and sprung so that in the event of a loss of air pressure, the unit will automatically lift to the top of the stroke.

Other measures including installing hanging sound baffles or curtains and applying bowl coatings can be taken to achieve maximum noise level reductions. In this case the hanging sound barriers can easily be removed and still provides superior access compared to metal framed and paneled sound enclosures. The design may be especially advantageous for pharmaceutical applications where regular wipe downs are required to meet strict FDA regulations.
