Original Press Release:

Enhanced Foxboro Engineering Tools from Invensys Make It Easier Than Ever to Unlock the Power of the I/A Series Automation System

Latest version of the I/A Series Configuration Component configuration package further reduces engineering time and effort

FOXBORO, MASSACHUSETTS, USA - June 9, 2003 - Foxboro, a unit of Invensys plc, has introduced important enhancements to the engineering toolset for the I/A Series A² automation system. The latest version of the I/A Series Configuration Component makes it easier than ever for process control engineers to unlock the proven power and reliability of the I/A Series A² system. The system is widely used to control and manage critical processes in refineries, petrochemical plants, power plants, paper mills, and similar large-scale industrial facilities.

First introduced in September 2002, the I/A Series Configuration Component (IACC) provides a comprehensive, yet extremely easy-to-use, engineering environment for the I/A Series A² automation system. IACC is designed to significantly reduce the time and effort required to configure I/A Series systems and control strategies.

New features recently introduced in IACC Version 1.1 include:
o The ability to run directly on the latest I/A Series A² Windows XP-based workstations as well as on standalone PCs
o The ability to configure databases for a wide range of I/A Series software versions and system configurations, including both Unix- and Windows-based systems
o Significant performance improvements in system response
o The ability to automatically generate a FoxView user interface display from an IACC Control Strategy Diagram to aid in loop commissioning

IACC combines configuration tools for the system, control strategies, and user interface into a common, well-integrated environment. IACC offers a highly graphical, "drag and drop" configuration environment that's easy to use and can provide a significant engineering productivity boost for almost any project. Powerful reusable engineering techniques and an extensive Intelligent Design Studio library of pre-engineered control strategies dramatically reduce engineering time and effort.

To help preserve customer investments in intellectual property, control strategies developed with IACC will be fully supported within Invensys' emerging ArchestrA Integrated Development Environment (IDE).

For more information about IACC Version 1.1, readers should contact their Invensys Foxboro representative directly, call the Invensys Customer Satisfaction Center at 1-866-746-6477 (508-549-2424 outside of the US), or visit www.foxboro.com. IACC can also be purchased online at www.iastore.com.

ABOUT THE I/A SERIES A² SYSTEM

Thanks to continuous innovation and a firm commitment to preserving customers' investment in hardware, software, training, and intellectual property, I/A Series systems and customer applications implemented more than a decade ago are just as viable today as when they were first installed. With thousands of I/A Series systems installed in plants around the world - from small, highly regulated batch plants to the world's largest power plants, pulp and paper mills, refineries, and petrochemical complexes - the I/A Series system is clearly the most proven and reliable, continuously supported control system available.

The latest generation of I/A Series A² ("ArchestrA ready") systems will enable I/A Series users to continue to leverage the latest open technologies into the foreseeable future to continuously improve the performance of their plants.
