Xiotech Expands Data Protection Offerings with DataScale GeoRAID
From a Single SAN System, the New Application Provides Automatic Data Protection and Replication Across Geographically Dispersed Locations, Reducing Complexity and Mitigating the Risk of Data Loss
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn., April 3 / -- Xiotech® Corporation, a provider of data storage management solutions, today announced DataScale(TM) GeoRAID(TM) software for its Magnitude 3D® 3000 storage systems. GeoRAID provides automatic data replication and data protection within a single storage system, distributed across locations, ensuring information is protected and available in the event of a localized disaster.
Magnitude 3D 3000's unique architecture allows organizations to stretch components of a single storage system across multiple physical locations. Since it remains logically one system, customers need to only manage a single storage system, reducing IT complexity and easing time constraints on staff.
In the event of a localized disaster, server access to data is automatically routed to another location without interruption. Thus, data access is maintained, resulting in continued server access to critical data.
"Xiotech's DataScale GeoRAID and DCI components will offer our company a true disaster recovery/high availability architecture for our critical servers," said Sebastian West, network engineer, Banta Corporation. "We were using complicated third-party products to accomplish the same thing, but now will be able to consolidate onto one platform which will save us time and money. This will be a great extension to our Xiotech SAN which already provides us with an easy-to-use, flexible data storage system."

Xiotech also announced a distributed clustered interconnect (DCI) for organizations that want to separate their Magnitude 3D 3000 SAN components beyond 300 meters. The DCI extension enables organizations to separate Magnitude 3D components up to 10 km.
