Original Press Release:

New Internet Toolkit Extends NI LabVIEW XML Data Sharing Capabilities

AUSTIN, Texas - Feb. 18, 2004 - National Instruments (Nasdaq: NATI) today announced the NI LabVIEW Internet Toolkit 6.0. An add-on to LabVIEW 7 Express, this toolkit features a cross-platform XML DOM parser that engineers can use to read, write and parse XML data in the LabVIEW graphical development environment.

The toolkit's XML DOM parser extends the data sharing and management capabilities of LabVIEW by incorporating the benefits of XML, a widely adapted language for Internet-based information sharing. Machine and platform independent, XML delivers standardization, compatibility and efficiency for data sharing that helps engineers easily exchange measurement results between applications. The LabVIEW Internet Toolkit 6.0 also features an enhanced Web server that offers independent and shared modes of operation. The Internet Toolkit Web server goes beyond the server built into LabVIEW by providing CGI-based application control from thin clients and enhanced access permissions.

LabVIEW Internet Toolkit 6.0 includes Web server capabilities, XML DOM parser, CGI programming and libraries for adding FTP transfer and Telnet to VIs. This toolkit is available by itself or as part of the NI Enterprise Connectivity Toolkit, a set of tools for database operations, statistical process control and Internet-enabling technologies. National Instruments offers 16 unique LabVIEW toolkits that provide libraries of functions, virtual instruments, interactive wizards, examples, utilities and documentation that natively integrate into the LabVIEW environment and expand functionality of LabVIEW for specific measurement tasks.
