Resonate Commander 2.1 Offers Significant New Capabilities for Managing End-User Service-Levels of Applications

Commander 2.1 Adds Enhancements to End-user Perspective Testing, Root-Cause Problem Identification and Corrective Actions

NETWORLD+INTEROP, ATLANTA, GA., September 9, 2002- Resonate Inc. (NASDAQ: RSNT), the leading provider of award-winning application performance management solutions for business-critical applications, today announced a new version of its flagship product, Resonate Commander(TM). The new version, Resonate Commander 2.1, has been enhanced to significantly improve Commander's ability to test from the end-user perspective, rapidly determine problem areas in an application and enable operations groups to mitigate and correct problems in real-time.

Resonate Commander's new testing capabilities include failure identification for multi-URL transactions, new test types (FTP, DNS, IMAP, POP3, SMTP), a wizard for transaction test construction and enhanced HTTP transaction support. These features improve end-user perspective testing by helping IT administrators quickly locate, diagnose and resolve more complex application performance issues that impact end-users. Commander 2.1 also strengthens root-cause identification by providing an important diagnostic view that highlights the impact of failed elements on services and tiers. Additional new features include; improved corrective actions, enabling more complex policies to be created to translate events into corrective actions and improved enterprise usability/scalability that helps support large enterprise environments and integrates with existing management technology investments.

"Because our Web applications serve over $1 billion in transactions a day, it is imperative for us to quickly and easily identify issues and resolve any problems in a timely manner," said Chuck Vice, Chief Operating Officer at IntercontinentalExchange. "Enhanced Commander features that will enable us to proactively resolve outages or performance bottlenecks even quicker are critical to our customer base."

Resonate Commander software employs a "service model" which is a logical representation of end-user service levels correlated with the health and performance of application components. Using this service model, IntercontinentalExchange manages the service levels of business-critical applications, and has seen an immediate improvement in service.

"Application outages and bottlenecks represent almost half of all IT production environment problems which can mean reactive, slow and costly infrastructure management processes," said John McConnell, President of McConnell and Associates. "Resonate Commander 2.1 addresses this by taking a proactive approach providing integrated monitoring, testing, diagnostic and resolution capabilities within a single console and data model."

"IT organizations today are beginning to transform themselves from technology-centric cost centers into user-centric service organizations through people, process and technology changes," said Brad Jung, Director of Product Marketing and Product Management at Resonate. "Resonate Commander 2.1 represents a technology enabler for transforming IT by making it easier for enterprises to proactively manage their IT infrastructure from an end-user perspective."

Resonate will be participating in the following vendor panels at this year's Networld + Interop/Comdex 2002 in Atlanta on Wednesday, September 11: "Keeping Your Transactions Flowing: Getting More Performance Without Over-building" and "Root-cause Showdown: Compare the Players."

Availability
Resonate Commander 2.1 will be available in mid-September. Pricing begins at $50,000.
