SprutCAM Brings CNC Milling Capabilities to SolidWorks 2005 Software

Integrated software allows users to seamlessly import their designs directly into SprutCAM for CNC machining

Naberezhnye Chelny, Russian Federation - July, 14, 2004 - SPRUT Technology, Inc. today announced that its SprutCAM software supports SolidWorks 2005 3D mechanical design software. Engineers and designers use SprutCAM and SolidWorks to provide better programming efficiency, easier CAM organization, and superior tool path quality so they can design better products faster and more accurately, speeding time to market.

A SolidWorks Solution Partner Product, SprutCAM allows users to add directly to the SolidWorks button. When the add-in is selected, the current SolidWorks part is opened directly in SprutCAM. The user can then immediately update existing toolpaths for the part, or easily select an entire set of operations from a similar part to apply to the CAD model.

SprutCAM allows users to directly open a model in SprutCAM while in a SolidWorks session. The user can continue to design the model and then update and apply existing toolpaths without switching from one application to another. This associativity provides better machining efficiency, easier CAM organization, and superior toolpath quality.

SolidWorks 2005 expands on the software's legacy of ease of use, design power, and affordability by also providing users with comprehensive drawing tools and new productivity features that will speed the adoption of 3D design around the world.

"Efficient machining is crucial to 3D modeling, and SprutCAM makes it easy," said Brian Houle, Partner Program manager for SolidWorks. "Enabling engineers to access SprutCAM via SolidWorks helps them work more efficiently and accelerate product delivery. Giving engineers powerful design tools with just a couple of mouse clicks is what made SolidWorks the number-one supplier of 3D mechanical design software."
