Invensys' Wonderware Offers Comprehensive Manufacturing Applications To Support Pharmaceutical Industries

Electronic Solutions Drive Manufacturing Productivity, Increase Quality and Reduce Cost of Compliance for Government-Regulated Industries

NEW YORK, March 16, 2004 -- Wonderware, a business unit of Invensys Systems, Inc. announced today that the Wonderware Strategic Integration Group (WSIG) now offers a complete set of applications combining Wonderware technology built on the ArchestrA software architecture and Microsoft Windows Server System products to assist with tracking and tracing operations for pharmaceutical and other government-regulated industries.

WSIG plans to demonstrate its tracking and tracing solutions at the Interphex pharmaceutical industry trade show in Invensys booth #1221 from March 16-18 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City.

The WSIG applications are designed to improve manufacturing productivity, increase quality and reduce the cost of compliance in regulated industries. The solutions combine a variety of Wonderware and Microsoft applications. These include Industrial Application Server built on ArchestrA for automation and information architecture and Microsoft BizTalk 2004 for business and manufacturing systems integration. Other featured Wonderware applications include InTrack for manufacturing resource management, InBatch for recipe execution enforcement, IndustrialSQL Server for real-time information management, QI Analyst for online statistical analysis and DT Analyst for production and packaging line efficiency.

"The need for comprehensive and effective tracking and tracing applications for regulated industries such as pharmaceutical manufacturing has never been greater," said Yves Dufort, WSIG's general manager and director of services. "With counterfeit drugs making their way into the worldwide pharmaceutical supply chain, people's lives are at risk unless manufacturers have an effective and reliable tracking and tracing method for their manufacturing process. The WSIG offerings will have a significant impact on the ability of pharmaceutical companies to implement effective tracking and tracing applications, enabling safe medicines to be released to market."

WSIG's comprehensive solutions feature the following applications:

-- Formulation and Filling Application. A complete pre-packaged set of GAMP-ready ("good automated manufacturing practice") engineering documents and Wonderware technology to accelerate the delivery and qualification of batching solutions for product manufacturing.

-- Preweigh Application. An integrated browser-based application delivering repeatable and accurate weighing of raw materials and ingredients as intermediate goods prior to batching operations.

-- Paper-On-Glass Application. Replaces current paper-based systems by automating the enforcement of manufacturing procedures and the maintenance of manufacturing records for manual, semi-automated and automated processes.

-- Electronic Batch Record/Report Application. Combines product and process information offering a comprehensive and approval-ready report for quality-assurance and quality-control personnel.

-- Predictive Maintenance Application. An ArchestrA application object that integrates current computerized maintenance and management systems (CMMS) with real-time events to provide manufacturing personnel with predictive maintenance capabilities.

-- ISA S95 Enterprise Application Integration Application. An ISA S95 compliant set of transactions integrating business planning processes and manufacturing execution status and performance. ISA S95 standard provides recommended ways to organize and integrate control systems to other enterprise systems.

-- Online Statistical Process Control Application. Provides context alarming for analyzing a process so actions can be taken to improve the quality and consistency of a product. -- Event Resolution Application. Manages abnormal situations by generating ticket errors or deviation inquiry request to capture and document the resolution process.

-- Material Management Application. Enables organizations to leverage best practices through manufacturing execution systems and plant intelligence applications during product manufacturing
