Overview
VisualAge® Generator EGL Plug-in for VSE V1.0 allows customers who currently use VisualAge Generator to produce programs that run on VSE to continue doing so using the Enterprise Generation Language (EGL) component of Rational® Application Developer or Rational Web Developer. In addition, customers currently developing VSE applications in COBOL can now use EGL in Rational Application Developer or Rational Web Developer to create new COBOL applications for VSE.
By supporting VSE as a target platform from the Rational development environment, this plug-in allows:
Existing VA Generator customers to enhance and support their existing VSE applications or to create new VSE applications using the same application development tools they use for non-VSE applications
Existing COBOL/VSE customers to create new VSE applications using the same application development tools they use for non-VSE applications
Development of new applications targeted for VSE utilizing the latest Web architectures
