New BEZVision Release Enhances Support for Database Workload Management and Receives Certification for Oracle 11g

BOSTON, Feb. 19 /-- BEZ Systems, the leading provider of Predictive Performance Management (PPM) solutions, today announced immediate availability of BEZVision(TM) 3.3. BEZVision is a unique, next-generation software solution that automatically uses existing performance metrics to predict future application or workload service breaches, months before they would occur. Follow-on BEZVision "what-if" predictive technology models changes in seconds to insulate service delivery from constant changes such as mergers, acquisitions, service consolidations, capacity shifts, new applications or seasonal and event spikes.

BEZVision users realize a strong ROI in a variety of ways, including: reducing the number of databases and associated license and maintenance fees needed to fully support the business, reducing hardware costs by eliminating unnecessary upgrades, reducing system downtime by avoiding surprise outages, and lowering the time and number of people required for new application implementations.

According to Brian Doyle, BEZ Vice President of Product Services, "BEZVision 3.3 provides significant help to the IT staff responsible for the healthy performance of their database applications. This release expands the number of platforms that BEZVision can run on with 32 and 64 bit versions. Oracle 11g certification allows innovative customization of performance predictions and adds the ability to model applications before they're built. BEZVision users will also be able to evaluate workload priority settings and resource limiters to ensure that the most important applications are receiving the optimal resources to achieve business goals."

A key feature in this release is the ability to evaluate the performance impact associated with changes to processor resource limits and priority settings for selected workloads. There are a lot of options at the disposal of the DBA for managing resource consumption and execution priority. With BEZVision, they now have the ability to determine, ahead of time, the performance benefit of favoring selected business workloads with higher execution priority. At the same time, they can also determine which workloads can be "throttled back" by limiting resources without falling short of response time or throughput goals.

Another new feature driven by customer feedback is the ability to create simple workload profiles with minimal time and effort and has been dubbed "thin air" workload profiles. BEZVision has always been able to evaluate the performance effects of an upcoming new application introduction on other system applications and workloads. Typically, the new application is instrumented and measured in a development or test environment. These "test" workload profiles can then readily be combined with workload profiles generated on the production system to evaluate the performance effects of each of these workloads on the other. While this has been a powerful feature, BEZ customers have indicated a desire to construct workload profiles from "thin air" when it may be too early to measure a new workload or application in a test environment. The "thin air" workload profiles can be refined as time passes and more is known about the actual performance characteristics of the new workload or the application being developed.

BEZ software is built using SOA architecture and can process data from multiple existing performance data gathering agents and repositories. Additional data sources currently supported include: BEZ agentless collectors, CA Wily Introscope, Oracle Grid Control Repository, Teradata DBQL and ResUsage, Symantec i3 Performance Repository and HP OpenView.

About BEZ Systems

Since 1993, BEZ Systems has been offering innovative Predictive Performance Management (PPM) solutions that provide a line-of-business view of future application service delivery. These solutions allow IT managers to accurately profile application performance, compare "change and growth" alternatives, and forecast future requirements. Future performance predictions are an invaluable component of verifying that business objectives and performance goals can be met, thereby minimizing any shortfalls in service.
