New CAMformER(TM) Software Makes the Salvagnini ROBOformER(TM) Even Faster and Easier to Use



HAMILTON, OH (August 9, 2004) - The Salvagnini Group has released the 2004 version of Camformer software for its flexible, automated press brake bending cell, Roboformer. With the addition of several new design features, the industry's most efficient bending software is now even faster and easier to use.

Camformer is the industry's only totally off-line software program capable of converting two and three-dimensional CAD drawings to finished automated press brake programs in minutes. Optimal bending sequences, gripping maneuvers and robot trajectories are automatically calculated in less than 10% of the time it takes to program competitive robotic press brakes. The robot never requires teach-points, making Roboformer ideal for both prototyping and direct from drawing to production applications. For designs of even the most complex geometry, the first part formed is always a good part.

The previous version of Camformer featured the automatic creation of 3D press brake bending programs from two-dimensional drawings. The 2004 version adds several new applications: GraspDesigner, a new drawing tool; AutoRegrip, a new robot gripping sequence; and CollisionDetect, an improved trajectory definition.

GraspDesigner is a powerful graphic tool that makes it quick and easy to manage all sorts of grasping devices - the vacuum cups, profiles, flanges, and frames used to hold parts during bending.

AutoRegrip is a tool for applications where the part is of sufficient strength to allow for automatic regripping movements while being held by the press brake.

CollisionDetect is a tool that reduces the time required to analyze collision detection by 50% in the process of determining ideal robot and part trajectories. For example, a part with 30 bends can now be programmed in less than 20 minutes.
