MSC.Software Announces Release of MSC.ADAMS 2003

Newest Version of Industry Leading Motion Software Gives Engineers Integration to MSC.Software Products and Availability Under VPD Campus License System

SANTA ANA, Calif. - July 15, 2003 - MSC.Software Corp. (NYSE: MNS), the leading global provider of virtual product development (VPD) products including simulation software and services, today announced the availability of MSC.ADAMS 2003. MSC.ADAMS is the world's leading motion simulation product that allows engineers to simulate, understand and quantify the performance of mechanical systems before building expensive hardware prototypes and conducting physical tests. According to market research firm Daratech, Inc., the Systems Performance Market, a division of the Computer-Aided Engineering market, is expected to grow between 8% and 14% in 2003.

"Motion simulation and loads analysis are an extremely important part of virtual product development, especially for manufacturers developing complex mechanical systems like automotive suspensions or aircraft landing gear," said Frank Perna, chairman and chief executive officer of MSC.Software. "The combination of the MSC.ADAMS technology and other MSC.Software products like MSC.Nastran 2004 gives our customers a powerful toolset to solve engineering problems and improve their product development processes."

Several significant enhancements aimed at increasing user productivity have been implemented in MSC.ADAMS 2003. These enhancements include:

Improved 3-D Contact - A new faceted geometry approach has been implemented to solve 3-D contact problems. The result is that more realistic part contact can be simulated in significantly less time.

Improved Integration between MSC.ADAMS, MSC.Nastran and MSC.Fatigue - In addition to the new combined capabilities of MSC.ADAMS and MSC.Nastran 2004, the generation of flexible bodies from MSC.Nastran has been made easier and can now include pre-stress effects. In addition, ADAMS/Durability will now interface directly with MSC.Fatigue for complete component life prediction.

MSC.ADAMS Included in VPD Campus Licensing System - MSC.ADAMS 2003 marks the first release which features full compatibility with the MSC VPD Campus License (token) system, giving customers the capability to run MSC.ADAMS from the same token pool which they use for MSC.Nastran, MSC.Marc, MSC.Patran, and our many other products which are available on the VPD Campus System. For more information on the VPD Campus Licensing System, please visit www.mscsoftware.com/products/products_detail.cfm?PI=556.

Release of ADAMS/Car Ride - ADAMS/Car Ride includes the required elements, models and event definitions for building, testing and post processing within the ride frequency regime. Once the components are specified in detail, a full-vehicle assembly can be run through a battery of predefined ride & comfort simulation scenarios, based on an extended four-post test rig, enabling the user to estimate typical system-level NVH metrics.

3-D Plotting for ADAMS/Engine and ADAMS/Vibrations - To help engineers better visualize NVH information, 3-D plotting capability has been added to ADAMS/Engine and ADAMS/Vibrations. Users will now be able to plot 3-D FFT's, 3-D waterfall plots, and visualize 3-D splines.

MSC.Software is hosting a public webinar, which will highlight "What's New in MSC.ADAMS 2003" that will take place on Wednesday, July 16, at 08:00 Pacific Time / 11:00 Eastern Time. To find out more about this event or to register, please visit www.mscsoftware.com/events/adams2003/.
