MicroMain Provides New Web Capability in MicroMain FM Version 6.1

With New Release of CAFM Software, Facility Managers Quickly Trace and Solve Problems, Improve Emergency Planning

(August 31, 2004) AUSTIN, TX - MicroMain Corporation, a leading provider of asset and facility management software and services, today announced the release of Version 6.1 of MicroMain FM(TM), its computer aided facility management (CAFM) system. This release introduces new web capability, enabling users to publish facility drawings, data and reports to the web.

MicroMain FM allows users to link facility data to the AutoCAD® drawings of their facilities. By data-enabling their drawings, facility managers can better visualize their space and locate people and assets-which results in better management.

Facility managers primarily use MicroMain FM for space planning, asset management, move management, and emergency planning. They also use MicroMain FM to manage projects, such as renovations that involve staff and contract labor, building of office space or facility wings, movement of personnel, and multiple tasks. Using the software, managers can store project details, track labor time, track costs, and report on current status.

MicroMain FM is also used for simplified maintenance management. Users create and manage basic work orders, which can include drawings of rooms or areas marked up to show exactly what work needs to be done. Customers can also link MicroMain FM to MicroMain's award-winning computerized maintenance management software, MicroMain XM(TM), to create a fully integrated facility and maintenance management system.

The latest version of MicroMain FM includes a major upgrade to fmWEB(TM), the facility management web module that allows anyone in an organization to access facility drawings or information using a web browser. With fmWEB, users can easily search published drawings for people, areas or equipment. Users can also use mark-up tools to add text and graphics to the drawings, increasing remote collaboration across the enterprise. New security options allow managers to limit access to designated users.

A new feature in MicroMain FM 6.1 allows users to define the relationship between primary equipment and its supported equipment/areas in a facility. For example, a user can view the location of breaker panels, water shutoffs, routers and air handlers that provide services to a selected room. Or a user can highlight all of the computers and other network devices that depend on a selected data router. With this information, staff persons can improve maintenance efficiencies, including tracing and solving problems, and develop effective emergency response and disaster recovery plans for their facilities.

With more than 60 predefined reports, ad hoc reporting and multiple customizable features, MicroMain FM allows facility managers to report on operations in any form that works for their organization. Dynamic reporting includes both drawings and data.

MicroMain FM 6.1 continues MicroMain's commitment to shipping software with the entire source code included, which is not standard practice for CAFM products in the market today. The source code, provided at no additional charge, gives customers complete control regarding customization.

"Our customers like MicroMain FM because it's easy to understand and easy to use," said Pat Conroy, President of MicroMain. "Our goal is to provide a cost-effective system with extensive functionality that can be tapped by anyone in the organization, especially non-AutoCAD users. Based on the positive response to Version 6.1, we are delivering the functionality, ease of use, and value that customers are looking for."
