ABB Announces Latest Version of ProduceIT ME

Reduces the time and costs associated with regulatory compliance

Warminster, PA, April 15, 2003-- ABB announced today the release of the next version of ProduceIT ME, the electronic batch record and material tracking solution of the ProduceIT suite. ProduceIT ME 4.0 can help manufacturers reduce direct manufacturing costs by substantially dropping rework costs and documentation overhead, reducing manufacturing cycle times, reducing direct and indirect labor costs, as well as increasing product quality and consistency and improving compliance with critical industry regulations like cGMPs and 21 CFR part 11.

Designed to reduce the time and costs associated with regulatory compliance, ProduceIT ME manages the essential elements of production by setting up the specifications for batch production, organizing resources, initiating the batch schedule, coordinating the execution of the batch, handling all production and quality records, and providing information for monitoring and optimization of the batch process. "This latest version of ProduceIT ME will help our customers achieve significant operational efficiencies through the automation and replacement of the paper batch record while reducing the cost of compliance," says Donald Bockman, ABB's MES Business Manager.

This release improves the Electronic Batch Record Management module through a design that utilizes Microsoft® FrontPage to create Intelligent Forms (IForms) that now support thin client (browser based) inter/intranet access. Microsoft® .NET based business objects provide a documented API to perform all batch record functions. Furthermore, the functionality available during execution is now extensible through the use of VB scripting.

This release upgrades the Weigh/Dispense capabilities by introducing Flexible Dispensing functionality. Flexible Dispensing utilizes the IForms of the Electronic Batch Record Management system to deliver a user configurable dispensing process. A base set of fully configured/tested templates has been included to model a complete dispensing process along with support for interfacing with balances, barcode printers, and barcode scanners. The Flexible Dispensing module is an add-on to the inventory system and is tightly integrated with both the Inventory and Electronic Batch Record Management modules.
