GT Software Announces Release 2.0 of Ivory(TM) Web Services

Ivory(TM) Studio and Ivory continue to dominate marketplace by providing Web services for enterprise applications

ATLANTA, Feb. 1 - GT Software, Inc., a leading provider of enterprise mainframe integration solutions, today announced release 2.0 of Ivory(TM) Web Services. The Ivory Process for Web Services continues to offer innovative and effective methods for bottom-up and top-down processing for CICS Transaction Server composite services. Ivory Studio and Ivory Server team up to provide composite outbound/inbound Web services in addition to the composite application process provided in release 1. Joe Ganem, President and CEO at GT Software, stated, "The new Ivory wizard will allow clients to build Web services using the bottom-up approach in a matter of minutes. But our developers did not stop there. The new WSDL discovery and import function allows Ivory to reuse any Web service meta data and map that data onto existing CICS applications, thus providing more options for the top-down approach."

Major enhancements to Ivory Web Services include:
WSDL Discovery - Ivory Studio provides a WSDL discovery dialog for importing Web services. The discovery process is used when building outbound Web services for Ivory Server. The import process supports UDDI and other WSDL discovery files types. Using the WSDL discovery process, clients can access existing SOAP services and create new services using meta data common to their enterprise.

Composite Web Services - Ivory provides the CICS programmer with access to several services using a single API call to Ivory Server. In addition to composite Web services, Ivory has an easy-to-use IDE with drag and drop capabilities to build your Web services. Just drag and drop your Ivory Server will handle all SOAP processing to and from external Web services through the use of a COBOL-friendly process. CICS programmers do not need to learn complex Web service processing; instead, they use a standard CICS call to access Ivory Server, and Ivory acts as a SOAP client using HTTP or HTTPS processing for the programmer. And of course Ivory will support single Web service calls in addition to the composite processing.

Enhanced WSDL Support - Ivory provides support for both RPC/Encoded and Document/Literal structures, which allow for nested complex data type schema. The enhanced WSDL editor in Ivory provides drag-and-drop processing of XML structure changes in the SOAP input and output created by Ivory. Several new standard data types are supported in Ivory 2.0, including decimal, Boolean and hex binary. Ivory supports data conversions from COBOL COMP-3 packed decimal to and from the standard XML schema decimal data types.

Web Service Wizard - The Ivory wizard provides a method for building CICS Web services by stepping through a set of Wizard dialogs. This process provides a very fast path to building and exposing CICS applications as Web services. The process will automatically build the WSDL for the application, removing the COBOL look and feel from the exposed WSDL meta data.

Advanced CUT/COPY/PASTE Options - Ivory project models can now be copied and pasted from project to project, increasing an Ivory designer's productivity. Common Ivory flow processing can now be reused in a matter of seconds, reducing the time needed to develop Web services.

Test Case Processor - The Ivory test tool has been enhanced to allow testing of Web services that do not exist on Ivory Server. Complex SOAP requests can be saved and replayed; Ivory now has advanced functions to verify the structure and will adjust to changes to the original XML structure.

GT Software continues its commitment to Web service processing by providing CICS Transaction Server developers with the tools to move their investment in CICS and IBM into all areas of their enterprise. The Ivory Process for Web Services provides the method to move these assets into the development environments of J2EE, .NET and future SOA directions.
