GE Fanuc Introduces Proficy(TM) Real-Time Information Portal

New Version of Leading Plant-Wide Web Trending and Analysis Software Solution Offers Powerful New Tools for Real-Time Decision-Making

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. GE Fanuc Automation Americas, Inc., a unit of GE Infrastructure, has announced the new Proficy(tm) Real-Time Information Portal Version 2.1 - a major new version of the company's plant-wide analysis, visualization and reporting software application - which allows users to gain business insight from their plant data in real time. Proficy Real-Time Information Portal supports better, faster decision-making with a common client that spans all pertinent data sources, helping production, IT and business users to analyze trends and statistical deviations to drive quality and continuous improvement. This easy-to-use portal is part of GE Fanuc's flagship family of software, Proficy Intelligent Production Solutions, and communicates with GE Fanuc systems as well as third-party applications to quickly leverage a company's installed base of equipment and achieve faster ROI.

"With a personalized 'Digital Cockpit' available through a standard web browser, employees, customers and suppliers can act on consistent, real-time information, resulting in better and faster decision-making," said Kevin Roach, vice president, GE Fanuc Automation. "Based on GE's world-renowned manufacturing and business practices, Proficy Real-Time Information Portal is uniquely capable of providing the tools that can help companies make significant, measurable gains throughout their operations in order to improve performance, reduce costs, and expand the bottom line. This solution also delivers data to key decision-making platforms, such as ERP, supply chain and CRM, extending the investment in these systems."

Using sophisticated trending and reporting capabilities that take advantage of historian archive technology, Proficy Real-Time Information Portal calculates, analyzes, and presents an overall view of key performance indicators (KPIs) and other metrics necessary to run processes in a more efficient manner. With Proficy Real-Time Information Portal, businesses can gain real-time information to:
o Calculate, analyze and improve KPIs;
o Increase quality by comparing current to ideal production;
o Reduce fines by improving regulatory compliance;
o Increase production by improving machine uptime and efficiency;
o Limit scope and cost of recalls by improving traceability;
o Improve decision-making with accurate, timely reporting;
o Speed product release with electronic signatures and 21 CFR Part 11 support;
o Reduce capital expenditures by improving asset utilization; and
o Provide manufacturing visibility to their supply chain for improved speed and efficiency.

With its expanded functionality, Proficy Real-Time Information Portal 2.1 offers a new Historian Client to connect to GE Fanuc's Proficy Historian as well as third-party technologies. A new web portal provides a single, powerful user interface for all plant floor visualization and analysis. As a web-based solution, Proficy Real-Time Information Portal helps to lower total cost of ownership, easing system deployment, maintenance, and upgrades. The open nature of Proficy Real-Time Information Portal also makes it easy to integrate into a variety of other application solutions to provide users with the precise data they need to make more informed decisions.

Additionally, Version 2.1 offers new Dynamic Graphics that facilitate an HMI-like view of plant floor operations with real-time and historical animations of data and features a comprehensive shape library for easy screen development. A web-based Integrated Quality capability brings together disparate data sets into a common environment for consistent Statistical Process Control (SPC) analysis to boost quality and continuous improvement. New Natural Printing expands formatting, saving and report printing capabilities. Other new features of Version 2.1 include: more comprehensive plant-wide connectivity (relational databases, OPC, Proficy HMI/SCADA iFIX®, Proficy Historian, OSI PI); easy-to-use analysis tools such as a Graphic Statement Builder, a hierarchical Data Control for viewing organized or structured data, and Data-bound Form Controls for executing queries; and numerous additional client components, including grids, charts, and graphics. Furthermore, the security features of Proficy Real-Time Information Portal have been greatly enhanced to further protect system integrity. Proficy Real-Time Information Portal uses standard, powerful Windows® 2000 security and provides each company with the ability to have total control over user rights and roles, including who can access the system and who can create or modify displays. Offered in an Enterprise Edition and Historian Edition, Proficy Real-Time Information Portal Version 2.1 is now available. For fastest implementation, users of GE Fanuc's Proficy HMI/SCADA iFIX® can take advantage of a new optional iFIX Jump Start module.
