AccuStudy(TM); Revolutionizing Time-and-Motion Studies

Advanced Time Studies, headquartered in Washington State, will unveil AccuStudy(TM), a software program for time-and-motion study, at National Manufacturing Week- scheduled to take place in Chicago, Illinois March 18-21. AccuStudy(TM) is destined to eclipse the clipboard and stopwatch method of time-and-motion studies. Utilizing new handheld touch screen technology to efficiently capture data, AccuStudy(TM) automatically creates detail reports and summaries that instantaneously identify opportunities for greater productivity. AccuStudy(TM) needs no preparation time to begin a study, it gathers the data much faster and more accurately and delivers full reports in a fraction of the time of conventional methods. The easy-to-use program uses simple and familiar icons to represent common production or manufacturing activities, and can be used on any handheld device running Windows CE. To input data, users simply touch the screen over the icon of the activity they wish to record. AccuStudy(TM) keeps a continuously running clock of the time that passes until a new task is selected. By allowing users to gather data accurately to one second, the possibility for operator error is significantly reduced. And, because less time is spent on recording data, a manager is able to actually observe the processes of the job - which means that studies can provide a broader picture of what is happening on the work floor. "For over 100 years, companies have been stuck on the idea that there's only one way to perform time-and-motion studies," said Ron Lander, founder and CTO of Advanced Time Studies. "Although manufacturers have improved their modes of production, the process of time study has stayed the same. No one has come up with a better way to interpret the efficiency of the new workplace. until now." AccuStudy(TM) can streamline what used to take days into just hours. The reports package will take the data, analyze, chart and graph results instantly, allowing adjustments to be made at once instead of having to wait for the analysis of the clipboard and stopwatch practice. These reports include sequential order, value/non-value activity, choke point identification, and averaging. In addition, with a simple touch of the screen, the program can also provide Gantt charts, pie charts bar graphs and ISO 9000 method worksheets. AccuStudy(TM) saves not only time, but also money. In addition to eliminating many of the costly steps involved in a traditional time study, AccuStudy provides companies the upper hand when bidding new projects. "With the ability to show the efficiency of their established production lines, companies can guarantee cost estimates and deadlines, which gives them a better chance of winning new projects,"said Lander. AccuStudy(TM) will be available in the spring of 2002. Advanced Time Studies will offer regular updates and upgrades to the product as well as 24-hour technical support.
