Emerson Updates Ams(TM) Suite: Intelligent Device Manager To Enhance Proactive And Predictive Maintenance Of Instruments And Valves

New Capabilities of AMS Device Manager boost the power of PlantWeb® to further increase customers' maintenance productivity and improve plant availability and performance.

AUSTIN, TX (January 15, 2004) - Emerson Process Management has released version 6.2 of its industry leading AMS Suite: Intelligent Device Manager, adding to the many predictive and proactive maintenance capabilities currently available. The AMS Device Manager software, voted number one in the Control Readers' Choice Awards for the past four years, continues to enhance its leadership position by adding new interfaces, more options, and additional XML Web services. AMS Device Manager powers Emerson's PlantWeb® digital plant architecture to improve availability and performance.

AMS Device Manager fully integrates with Emerson's AMS Suite: Asset Portal(TM) that unifies data on the condition of mechanical equipment, process equipment, instruments and valves, and automates the flow of information to those who run the business. Through the AMS Asset Portal, managers can view current and historical data on the condition of their assets to expedite decision-making. XML Web services introduced with AMS Device Manager 6.2 enable AMS Asset Portal to access FOUNDATION(TM) fieldbus devices connected to Emerson's DeltaV process automation system.

Other significant enhancements in AMS Device Manager version 6.2 include:
o An interface that allows easy communication with Emerson's new 375 Field Communicator; the interface enables users to easily move device configuration data between the 375 Field Communicator and the AMS Device Manager. Following use of the 375 Field Communicator in the plant to configure or update devices, users can transfer updates to the AMS Device Manager where they gain the advantages of a full-featured software application such as Audit Trail. The interface streamlines maintenance tasks by eliminating manual record keeping and increases maintenance productivity.
o Support for documenting calibrators manufactured by BETA Calibrators; these complement the existing calibrator interface offerings from Rosemount, Beamex, Druck, Fluke, and Transmation.
o Enhanced STAHL HART Interface; supports the STAHL IS pac 9192 multiplexer; this interface enables easy integration into the AMS Device Manager.

"We are committed to delivering comprehensive, integrated and open Asset Optimization capabilities that help our customers manage critical assets," said Craig Llewellyn, president of Emerson's Asset Optimization division. "The version 6.2 of AMS Device Manager delivers increased value to users, enabling them to be more proactive in managing their plant assets, more efficient in their production processes, and more responsive in their markets."
