Network Chemistry Unveils Portable Wireless Scanning and Analysis Tool

Integrated Companion Software for Award-Winning RFprotect Wireless IPS Enables Walk-Around Scans

PALO ALTO, Calif., Nov. 15 - Network Chemistry, provider of advanced RF security solutions, announced today the availability of RFprotect(TM) Mobile, a new companion software application to its award-winning RFprotect Enterprise Wireless Intrusion Protection System. The software provides network and security administrators with walk-around wireless scanning and analysis tools to help lock out rogues and other wireless threats.

RFprotect Mobile allows field engineers to access the same powerful tools and information that RFprotect Enterprise provides -- but on the go. Armed with a notebook PC, operators can audit wireless networks for vulnerabilities, AP or sensor coverage holes, and network mis-configurations.

"A portable walk-around tool for RF scanning is an important component of wireless intrusion protection," said Craig Shorter, Vice President for Information Security at First Tennessee Bank. "We prefer a single vendor approach for our wireless security monitoring needs, and RFprotect Mobile is a nice addition to our RFprotect Enterprise product."

"An industry first, the integrated capabilities between RFprotect Mobile and RFprotect Enterprise increase automation and reduce the learning curve for our customers to protect themselves from wireless threats and anomalies," said Rob Markovich, CEO of Network Chemistry. "We are passionately committed to helping our customer root out the threat of rogues and malicious devices, and RFprotect Mobile is the best portable product on the market for tracking them down quickly."

How it Works
RFprotect Mobile software loads onto a Windows laptop and supports a variety of wireless network adaptor cards. Incorporating the same easy-to-use graphical user interface as the award-winning RFprotect Enterprise, RFprotect Mobile simplifies training and support for personnel who need to operate a distributed and mobile wireless monitoring solution. The software will auto-discover wireless devices in the airspace and perform the same threat and attack analysis as its companion distributed solution.

RFprotect Mobile is the first mobile scanning application to fully integrate and synchronize with a distributed wireless IDS/IPS, the RFprotect Enterprise. System operators can share information between products, such as the loading/storing of building blueprints, threat detections, and network topology information gathered by either product.

RFprotect Mobile also includes capabilities specific to a walk-around scanning tool, such as automated software to help locate rogues and malicious devices, and tools to audit distributed sensor and access point coverage. The walk-around tool is also effective for on-the-spot troubleshooting of security and performance anomalies, as well as in locations where distributed sensors are not deployed.

One of RFprotect Mobile's unique tools is RFlocate, providing unprecedented accuracy in locating rogue access points and malicious clients. RFlocate differs from other systems currently on the market because it does not rely on deployed sensors to triangulate rogue locations. Using sensors to triangulate rogues reduces the accuracy and flexibility that today's IT Administrators require. Instead, RFlocate continually records the RF vectors as the tool is mobilized. The resulting information is then correlated and presented to accurately locate a specified device. The use of numerous sampling points gives RFlocate far more accuracy in locating stations, thus saving time and money.

Network Chemistry also announced the latest version of RFprotect, which includes advanced RF analysis, intrusion prevention, and automated auditing an reporting of industry policy regulations (see separate press release).

Pricing and Availability
RFprotect Mobile version 1.1 is priced at $1,999 for a single user license. But for the next 60 days, Network Chemistry is offering it at a special launch price of $1,499.
