Version 5.1 Extends Policy-Driven Security and Management Controls Across the Mobile Data Lifecycle; Support for Enterprise-hosted Model Extends Policy Controls to Affiliates
DALLAS, March 6 / -- CREDANT Technologies, a leading provider of mobile data protection solutions, today announced version 5.1 of its flagship product, CREDANT Mobile Guardian Enterprise Edition. In this release, CREDANT extends policy-driven security management and controls across the entire mobile data lifecycle and introduces support for Collaborative Mobile Data Security -- an enterprise-hosted model that allows organizations to control security policies for data on mobile devices owned by business affiliates. By delivering a comprehensive solution that allows organizations to control and protect all mobile data with security that "follows the data" across all endpoints, CREDANT closes the security gaps created by mobility.

CREDANT Mobile Guardian Addresses the Mobile Data Security Life Cycle
CREDANT Mobile Guardian provides comprehensive protection by mapping the Mobile Data Security Life Cycle to four key process elements: Detection, Protection, Management, and Support. -- Over-the-air Deployment, Activation, 'Data Kill', and Policy Updates -- includes interoperability with 3rd party device management and synchronization providers, over-the-air activation and policy updates and immediate, enforceable, "Data Kill".
-- Expanded platform coverage -- comprehensive platform support includes now Windows Mobile 5 and the automatic detection and provisioning of Symbian devices.
-- Enhanced Audit and Reporting -- administrators can easily generate detailed reports on the use of mobile devices within the organization, quickly determine if notebook or handheld computers are secured and in compliance, and export the data to third party reporting tools.
Building the Foundation for Collaborative Mobile Data Security
Since February 2005, The Privacy Rights Clearing House reported that 118 companies reported data breaches that potentially compromised the personal information of more than 53 million Americans. 27% of the companies incurred data breaches because a computer, notebook computer or removable storage device was lost or stolen. In several cases, the compromised data actually resided on notebook computers of their service provider or consulting firm -- highlighting the inherent complexity associated with managing the security of mobile data as it moves across corporate boundaries.
