CREDANT Launches CREDANT Mobile Guardian 5.1, the First Mobile Data Protection Solution That 'Follows the Data' across All End Points

Version 5.1 Extends Policy-Driven Security and Management Controls Across the Mobile Data Lifecycle; Support for Enterprise-hosted Model Extends Policy Controls to Affiliates

DALLAS, March 6 / -- CREDANT Technologies, a leading provider of mobile data protection solutions, today announced version 5.1 of its flagship product, CREDANT Mobile Guardian Enterprise Edition. In this release, CREDANT extends policy-driven security management and controls across the entire mobile data lifecycle and introduces support for Collaborative Mobile Data Security -- an enterprise-hosted model that allows organizations to control security policies for data on mobile devices owned by business affiliates. By delivering a comprehensive solution that allows organizations to control and protect all mobile data with security that "follows the data" across all endpoints, CREDANT closes the security gaps created by mobility.

"CREDANT Mobile Guardian's feature set has allowed us to control and manage the integrity of data that resides mobile devices seamlessly enough that our physicians have been able to fully integrate mobility into their work culture," said Randy Maib, senior IT consultant at Integris Health Inc. "This enables us to increase the quality of care to our patients in a secure, compliant fashion, and the ability to extend that security to trusted partners is a highly appealing proposition. CREDANT has been a great partner, and its ability to anticipate future needs is what has kept them consistently ahead of the game when it comes to Mobile Data Protection."

CREDANT Mobile Guardian Addresses the Mobile Data Security Life Cycle
CREDANT Mobile Guardian provides comprehensive protection by mapping the Mobile Data Security Life Cycle to four key process elements: Detection, Protection, Management, and Support. This provides organizations with a strategic approach that enables them to protect data at all times and implement cost-effective compliance controls that adapt to changing business requirements. CREDANT's cross platform policy enforcement ensures security "follows the data" across the broadest number of platforms managed from a single console. CREDANT Mobile Guardian delivers the only architecture that manages the entire Mobile Data Security Lifecycle. In version 5.1 of CREDANT Mobile Guardian, CREDANT strengthens security across the entire lifecycle with the following enhancements:
-- Encryption of Removable Media -- enforces the Intelligent Encryption of data moved to any removable storage device (USB 'Thumb' drives, iPODS, etc) to mitigate the risk they pose as unsecured data repositories.
-- Intelligent Encryption of Application Data -- enforces the encryption of data created by business applications to protect against user error or malicious action that would leave data exposed.
-- CREDANT 2go -- enables employees to "point, click, encrypt" files for secure transfer via email, Instant Messenger, or other means.
-- Out-of-the Box Support for Two-factor Authentication -- supports industry-leading solutions including RSA SecurID for Windows, IBM Biometric Authentication, and Smartcards.
-- Over-the-air Deployment, Activation, 'Data Kill', and Policy Updates -- includes interoperability with 3rd party device management and synchronization providers, over-the-air activation and policy updates and immediate, enforceable, "Data Kill".
-- Expanded platform coverage -- comprehensive platform support includes now Windows Mobile 5 and the automatic detection and provisioning of Symbian devices.
-- Enhanced Audit and Reporting -- administrators can easily generate detailed reports on the use of mobile devices within the organization, quickly determine if notebook or handheld computers are secured and in compliance, and export the data to third party reporting tools.

Building the Foundation for Collaborative Mobile Data Security
Since February 2005, The Privacy Rights Clearing House reported that 118 companies reported data breaches that potentially compromised the personal information of more than 53 million Americans. 27% of the companies incurred data breaches because a computer, notebook computer or removable storage device was lost or stolen. In several cases, the compromised data actually resided on notebook computers of their service provider or consulting firm -- highlighting the inherent complexity associated with managing the security of mobile data as it moves across corporate boundaries. In version 5.1, CREDANT lays the foundation for a multi-dimensional solution that aligns mobile data security with who the user is, where they are, and what device they're using with the introduction of a new enterprise-hosted management model -- Collaborative Mobile Security. Collaborative Mobile Security enables organizations to ensure their data is secured throughout the lifecycle of the data and across the mobile ecosystem by extending mobile security to their affiliates.

"IT organizations must develop a services-based strategy to provisioning and supporting users that decouples physical devices from the services delivered to users. Look for opportunities not just to support collaboration and in house communities, but to exploit broader communities enabled by technology," said David Mitchell Smith, vice president and Gartner Fellow and Charles Abrams, research director, of Gartner, Inc., in a December 2005 report titled "Businesses Need to Explore Consumer Technology Before the Next Internet Revolution leaves Them Behind." "In many industries, parts of the supply chain should be viewed as a supply ecosystem that can be better managed and mined through some of the community models now emerging."

"As the business dynamics of mobility continue to evolve, a one-dimensional security strategy is inadequate," said Bob Heard, CEO and founder, CREDANT Technologies. "Our customers tell us that just protecting mobile devices is no longer enough -- they need to ensure that their data is protected regardless of who has the data or where it resides. This demands a new model for delivering mobile data protection that increases the speed of business execution, preserves customer brand and reduces the cost of compliance for everyone -- and we are delivering that model with our Collaborative Mobile Security solution."
