Overview
WebSphere® Everyplace(TM) Chip Management System (WECMS) V4 enables a card issuer to manage the configuration and issuance of smart chip cards and their subsequent life cycle events.
Smart card solutions demand new technology to manage the complexities of multiple applications, dynamic card holder data, and the card life-cycle processes. Traditionally, one card is synonymous with one application. A smart card with a smart chip, however, can run multiple applications from a variety of businesses. This creates a need for a system that can support and manage those applications across multiple platforms.
WECMS V4 offers a comprehensive card management system to help organizations optimize the operations of their smart card business. It is a fully-integrated lifecycle management system for the embedded chip market.

WECMS is based on open standards and adherence to the standardized infrastructure requirements of GlobalPlatform. The GlobalPlatform mission is to establish and maintain standards for an open smart card infrastructure that enables service providers from many industries to deploy and manage multiple applications through a variety of devices for their customers. GlobalPlatform compliance offers greater choice and wider availability, allowing issuers, banks, and merchants to offer a dynamic portfolio of services while retaining control over card transactions, scoring, and decision rules.
