IBM Grid Toolbox V3 for AIX, V1.1 Delivers Grid Computing Infrastructure to pSeries Servers

At a glance
Develop and deploy grids using the OGSI standards, thereby providing a quicker path to implementation. With IBM Grid Toolbox V3, you can:
o Capitalize on IBM experience, tools, and capabilities to plan
and deploy successful grid projects
o Leverage IT resources to full capacity
o Extend the availability of applications while applying more compute power to improve core business application performance

Overview
Enterprises that deploy, manage, and control grid computing and
developers who create products that assist in managing and deploying grids have a new, high-powered tool to assist them. IBM Grid Toolbox V3 for AIX® , V1.1, available on IBM eserver pSeries® servers running AIX 5L V5.2, delivers an innovative set of grid services built with the Open Grid Services Architecture (OGSA). OGSA is an open set of standards and protocols that enable communication across heterogeneous, geographically dispersed environments.

IBM Grid Toolbox V3 for AIX is a licensed program based on open
standards that can enable rapid deployment and integration of
business applications and processes in a grid. With grid computing, customers can virtualize entire data centers, sharing and managing distributed computing resources as if these resources were a single, unified computing instance.

IBM provides samples, superior to those available in Globus Toolkit, to show developers how to implement a grid and which types of applications can be dispatched to a grid. IBM Grid Toolbox includes object code for multiple IBM platforms that has been tested on the applicable IBM servers. IBM Grid Toolbox V3 includes certain integrated IBM middleware, including an integrated run-time environment, and an IBM data management solution for reliability and scalability.

User-centered, comprehensive technical documentation helps guide
grid developers and administrators with how-to's, examples, tutorials, and reference information - all in a single, easy-to-navigate location. LoadLeveler® for AIX 5L V3.2 cluster job manager allows job submission and queries to LoadLeveler through the resource management services in IBM Grid Toolbox V3.

Additionally, IBM Grid Toolbox V3 for AIX, V1.1 can offer:
o A user-friendly installation process.
o Integrated run-time environment, which includes the embedded
version of WebSphere® Application Server - Express V5.0.2.
o Integrated database technologies from IBM Cloudscape V5.1 for storing data used by grid code.
o A Java(TM)-based user interface to simplify management across
platforms. IBM Grid Services Manager allows you to manage
grid services that have been deployed to the integrated run time. These services are based on the Open Grid Services Infrastructure (OGSI) standards, even those not created using IBM
Grid Toolbox V3.

Note: Middleware provided with IBM Grid Toolbox V3 is in support of this product and cannot be used for user-built applications.
