New product enhancements found in PC-Duo Enterprise v4.0 include:
- Increased Functionality for Software License Management
PC-Duo helps organizations protect themselves from legal liability and fines associated with software piracy compliance. 23 percent more investigations were conducted in 2005 than in 2004 by the Business Software Alliance (BSA) into businesses reported to be using software illegally. Most organizations have some form of non-compliance issues, creating potential legal and financial business liability. PC-Duo eliminates this risk for clients. The BSA estimates that 25 percent of organizations are not in compliance today.
The Software Identification Manager now shows the serial number of most Microsoft(TM) software installed on the network, allowing administrators to quickly identify serial numbers not associated with the company and to prevent non-compliance issues from occurring. New reports include "per client" and "per site" versions that show all Microsoft keys specific to individual desktops or locations. These summary reports help management ensure their licenses are in compliance and that purchased software is being utilized.
To further assist in the identification of cost-cutting opportunities for the enterprise business, PC-Duo Enterprise v4.0 features usage metering capability including a Microsoft Office(TM) license optimization report suite that will identify opportunities on PCs where a partial software package, versus the complete MS Office(TM) suite, would be sufficient for an end-user's needs.

Other important enhancements to PC-Duo Enterprise v4.0 include defaulting to MSDE as its standard database; an improved and continuous evaluation process; user-oriented asset reports (ensuring a user has returned all assets before leaving the company); and new streamlined workflow in software inventory in which the tabbed results views are updated automatically, making it easier to see which provisional and registry recognitions still need investigating. New tool tips have also been added to improve the user experience and provide easily accessible online help.
