UGS Announces Version 2 of Teamcenter Express
Velocity Series' Breakthrough Mid-Market cPDM Offering Adds New Capabilities for Design Collaboration, Manufacturing Data Management and ERP Integration
FRANKFURT, Germany and PLANO, Texas, Oct. 9 // -- UGS Corp., a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, today announced Version 2 of Teamcenter(R) Express which adds significant new features that expand the scope of Teamcenter Express for complete design through manufacturing data management for small- to mid-size manufacturers (SMBs).
Teamcenter Express is the collaborative product data management (cPDM) component of the UGS Velocity Series(TM) portfolio. The breakthrough product was released 10 months ago in 10 languages. This comprehensive language localization has led to deployments in 16 countries including Austria, Australia, Brazil, China, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, South Africa, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan and USA. The latest release provides key new features in design collaboration, manufacturing data management and ERP integration.

New design collaboration tool enables improved communication
Teamcenter Express Version 2 introduces "XpresReview Package Exchange," a new tool that enables more efficient and higher quality design collaboration between workgroups, suppliers and customers. XpresReview Package Exchange combines XpresReview technology with Packaged Collaboration File (PCF) technology. XpresReview is the established NX and Solid Edge collaboration tool. PCF is the portable, intelligent container that packages 2D and 3D CAD files and any other document types. New handling routines added to Teamcenter Express that facilitate this simple but powerful design review capability, including importing, exporting, mailing and viewing of PCF files. Suppliers and customers can download the XpresReview viewer for free to interrogate and mark up the PCF contents. Then they can import modified PCF files back into Teamcenter Express for others to review and incorporate into the design.
UGS recently announced several new Teamcenter Express customers, including:
o Siemens Gas Turbine Parts Limited (SGTP), a company in the Siemens Power Generation Group (see separate release).
o POSCO Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd., a global engineering and construction firm (see separate release).
o Meerecompany, a South Korean midsize manufacturer of LCD/semiconductor equipment (see separate release).
Additional enhancements target manufacturing and ERP
Today many SMBs use non-specific databases or PDM applications that do not manage manufacturing data. This results in the loss of data or even manufacturing from the wrong data. Teamcenter Express Version 2 provides both design and manufacturing data management in the same system. The system offers extensions for manufacturing process planning as well as tool, fixture and standard resource libraries, tailored for mid-size manufacturers.
Teamcenter Express Version 2 interfaces directly with NX(TM) CAM Express, announced in June. The system automatically captures the data created in NX CAM Express sessions and maintains this under full revision control under a manufacturing process definition. Then companies can easily go back to a job, find the right data and ensure that the correct information is sent to the machine shop.
In addition, Teamcenter Express Version 2 provides preconfigured Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) integration with leading programs, including SAP(TM) and Microsoft Dynamics(TM) GP, AX and NAV. This expanded set of ERP integrations ensures accurate and high-quality data transfer to ERP. The data transfer is automatically triggered by a workflow process and includes confirmation to the Teamcenter Express user of the status of the update transaction in the ERP system.

Teamcenter Express can be coupled with a wide variety of computer-aided design (CAD) applications including UGS' Solid Edge(R) and NX as well as CATIA(TM), AutoCAD(TM), Autodesk Inventor(TM) and SolidWorks.
