Ultimate Software Delivers UltiPro Workforce Management 8.0

WESTON, Fla., Nov. 24 -- . Ultimate Software (NASDAQ:ULTI), a leading provider of Web-based payroll and workforce management solutions, announced today the release of UltiPro Workforce Management 8.0. Ultimate Software designed its latest release to include enhanced Web administration capabilities to help executives, managers, and administrators further streamline employee-related processes in key areas such as:

o Performance management

o Electronic document management

o Compensation management

o Advanced eTime entry

"The new features in UltiPro 8.0 reflect Ultimate Software's commitment to grow UltiPro's Web feature-set, particularly for strategic HR applications," said Sharyle Doherty, Ultimate Software's vice president of product management. "Companies are going beyond self-service and using the Web more for performance and compensation management because the Internet provides a very flexible vehicle for managing people and processes, particularly with today's mobile workforce."

Through UltiPro 8.0, managers have the convenience of a central, online location where they can handle key employee-related processes like performance management. Using a Web browser, supervisors can plan, organize, and document performance evaluations faster and more efficiently, avoiding trips to the file cabinet for employee records or e-mails to and from human resources and payroll. By accessing the UltiPro portal from work, a hotel, or the home office, managers can identify employee performance appraisal and salary review due dates, current salary, and compensation history (including pay scale and salary grade). If authorized by system administrators, management can capitalize on new functionality by accessing relevant employee documents online, such as test scores or job-related certificates. Once complete, the review itself can be uploaded and attached to the employee's file for future reference.

This new release allows companies to use UltiPro to house and categorize employee-related documents such as drivers' licenses, consent forms, and completed I-9s with required identification. Administrators and managers have the ability to attach Microsoft Word documents, PDFs, JPEG files, spreadsheets, or any other file types supported by Microsoft Internet Explorer to employee files. The documents can be easily grouped and sorted, as necessary. Role-based security allows companies to give employees, managers, and other staff different viewing rights. In addition, businesses are able to use the eEmployee Administration feature to publish and display employee photos in company directories to improve workplace security and increase awareness of remote workers.

"UltiPro 8.0 will make it easier for businesses to reap the financial benefits of electronic document management," said Doherty. "By housing documents within UltiPro, companies can decrease their reliance on paper. This, in turn, will reduce printing and storage fees, while increasing the availability of employee records to remote users."

With this release, Ultimate Software has reduced the number of steps required for supervisors to make salary and employee job changes. Now HR/payroll staff has the flexibility to establish and maintain salary grade and pay scale business rules and associate them to jobs. HR managers and supervisors can also attach salary reviews to employee records. Following the review, managers have the ability to conveniently administer salary changes using UltiPro's eCompensation Management over the Web.

UltiPro 8.0 provides administrators with an advanced eTime Entry method. For customers with a high volume of time entry for large groups of employees, the new tools present more options for configuration of the time entry grid and allow for mass time entry changes. If, for instance, companies want to change holiday work schedules to six hours a day for employees in a particular division or pay group, that can be done for the entire list of employees on just one screen.

With this new eTime Entry method, UltiPro 8.0 gives customers a number of time entry options, including:

o Advanced eTime Entry for customers with extensive time entry needs for large groups of employees or many hourly workers

o Standard eTime Entry for managers or supervisors to enter time worked for their teams

o eTimesheets for empowering employees to enter and submit their own time worked for manager approval

o Integration with a customer's existing time and attendance system/vendor

In addition to new functionality, Ultimate Software designed UltiPro Workforce Management 8.0 as an optional release, giving licensed customers the choice of whether to upgrade now or wait until they install their fourth- quarter tax/year-end UltiPro release. UltiPro customers receive quarterly tax upgrades with federal, state, and local changes, in addition to major release upgrades. By making the release optional, Ultimate Software offers UltiPro users the flexibility to upgrade at their convenience, between now and the time they install their fourth quarter/year-end UltiPro release.

"We chose to make UltiPro 8.0 an optional upgrade so that our licensed customers can use their IT resources as efficiently as possible," said Doherty. "Our customers appreciate the opportunity to upgrade on their time frame, rather than ours."
