Aurora Logic Systems Announces its New Cost Effective and Powerful Boundary Scan Tools

December, 2004 - Aurora, IL - Aurora Logic Systems introduces its suite of robust boundary scan tools that all fall under the ConXscan(TM) family. Aurora Logic's objective in the development of the ConXscan software is to help manufacturers strengthen the quality of their products, improve profits by permitting better control of testing processes, reducing costs and increasing efficiency. "Our design engineers within our parent company, Connor-Winfield, periodically lamented about the limitations of existing boundary scan software platforms", states Matt Klueppel, senior design engineer for the ConXscan software. "We were encouraged by corporate management to pursue 'out of the box' thinking to develop a high level test and measurement boundary scan platform that would overcome the inefficiencies inherent with existing boundary scan programs".

Each product addresses specific applications for boundary scan (debug, test creation, test execution) and can be used independently or seamlessly with each other. "Every aspect of this software platform was designed for the benefit of manufacturers who are frustrated with other complex, expensive and cumbersome platforms, explains Klueppel. "The ConXscan(TM) software is Windows® 98/ME/NT/2000/XP compatible, and are excellent tools for enhancing manufacturability and streamlining test procedures, particularly for densely populated PCBs and BGAs."

The test platform utilizes an intuitive test creation interface to simplify the process of creating and executing boundary scan tests. In addition, the overall utility of the tools offered provides a quick return on investment for most design and manufacturing environments.

Product Highlights: Can be cost effectively integrated with existing systems without needing new platforms or augmenting existing platforms. Our ongoing beta sites are offering excellent field trial results and are in a position to take orders.

The Xbug platform allows designers to selectively drive test points into alternating states in order to verify interconnect integrity. Can be used to generate test vectors to prove whether valid interconnects exist between components when debugging new designs. It provides a "Watch Window" that allows engineers to verify the integrity of a particular connection through a virtual logic analyzer view. Xbug can also be thought of as an ideal introduction for companies just starting to evaluate the benefits of boundary scan.

The Xtest provides users an opportunity to quickly develop detailed boundary scan test patterns. Using an intuitive GUI, imported netlists and BSDL files and numerous options throughout test development, Xtest provides a comprehensive and feature-rich test development platform without the cost and complexity of multiple options required in many competing boundary scan software products. All test patterns are automatically generated using the "Test Creation Wizard" derived from imported schematic netlists and BSDL files, which can then be stored in a file vault to reduce the reliance on internal libraries and the problems that can occur with outdates files. Xtest also directs users to assign pin mapping to non-scannable components such as connectors, resistors and jumpers.

The compiled mode operation of Xrun provides quick pass/fail information for production lines. There is little training required of a test technician to run Xrun, as the commands and pass/fail outputs are simple, intuitive and easily integrated into existing legacy test platforms. The platform runs on most operating systems, ensuring that even older Windows based systems can take full advantage of the power of ConXscan.

About Aurora Logic
Aurora Logic Systems is a division of The Connor-Winfield Corporation who, for 40 plus years, has been the pioneer and now a leader in Frequency Timing Products. "Through years of component design development, rigid quality control requirements, test and measurement processes, Aurora Logic's boundary scan software development became a natural evolution to enhancing manufacturability and streamlining test procedures for all electronic manufacturers, states Dan Olp, General Manager of Connor-Winfield. "We continually strive for cost effective strategies, high quality products and enhancement of our manufacturing processes."
