Composite Software Advances SOA Data Virtualization with New Product Release
Composite Information Server (CIS) 4.5 Simplifies and Speeds Access to Business-Critical Data in Disparate Sources and Geographic Locations
SAN MATEO, Calif. - June 25, 2007 - Composite Software, Inc., the on-demand data integration company, today announced a major release of the company's flagship product, the Composite Information Server(TM) (CIS), and introduced a compatible Composite Active Cluster(TM) option that enables enterprises to further scale their data services deployments. CIS 4.5 and Active Cluster extend the capabilities of creating, publishing and consuming data services for SOA and data virtualization, allowing users in data-intensive industries such as financial services, pharmaceutical/biotechnical, ecommerce, telecomm as well as government agencies, easier and faster access to a wider breadth of data.

Industry analysts predict the data within enterprises is likely to triple to 100,000's of terabytes by 2010. Yet, this data--found in a variety of disparate sources and geographic locations-is not always easily accessed when needed for business-critical decision-making. The CIS 4.5 and the Composite Active Cluster help enterprises achieve greater on-demand scalability and continuous availability of their data. Active Cluster improves data virtualization and data reuse capabilities by allowing users to deploy massively scalable, adaptable clusters. Further, the Composite Active Cluster exploits native "active/active" clustering to help reduce total cost of ownership of the data services layer and improve infrastructure utilization. The Composite Active Cluster is compatible with CIS 4.5 and future versions.

Data virtualization and enterprise management are key requirements in this Information-as-a-service market. With this release, Composite significantly advances both virtualization and management. On the management front, CIS 4.5 introduces an all new, web-based server management console. The browser-based manager allows users and administrators to monitor and manage the Composite environment from remote locations. The new, light-weight console is fully integrated with the Composite Active Cluster and allows administrators to create, monitor and manage globally deployed clusters of CIS servers.
CIS 4.5 also introduces improved security management capabilities that simplify the management and control of large groups of enterprise users as well as expands data connectivity with support of Teradata and select mainframe data sources including VSAM, ISAM, IMS and Adabas.
Additional product enhancements include a foreign key relationship analyzer that helps the query optimization engine improve execution of complex, interdependent queries. With the newest release, there is also enhanced XML data type support, HTTP connectivity pooling, and user/group export and import.
The CIS 4.5 and the Composite Active Cluster will be generally available at the end of June 2007. CIS 4.5 and the Composite Active Cluster are sold separately, with pricing based on the number of CPUs.
