Interactive Enterprise Announces Open Conexon Broadband Provisioning and Service Activation Software Platform

Provides Broadband Operators With First Open System for Complete Control and Rapid Deployment of Voice, Video, Data Services to Subscribers

BURLINGTON, MA - Oct. 7, 2003 - Interactive Enterprise, the provider of ConexonTM -- the #1 globally deployed system in the cable activation market -- today introduced Open Conexon, a broadband provisioning and service activation software platform that enables broadband service providers to rapidly deploy voice, video and data services to their subscribers.

Open Conexon provides tier 1 operators with complete control over back office provisioning and service activation systems (PSA). It also offers control over platform management, business process definition and service creation, as well as the ability to develop interfaces for new services, thus reducing the dependency on third parties and costs associated with consulting and licensing fees. Benefits to operators include reductions in deployment costs, time to market, manual work processes and data management risks.

According to Tom Higgins, CEO of Interactive Enterprise, "Broadband is moving from the early adopter stage to pervasiveness. Broadband operators are seeking operations support systems (OSS) platforms that are open, so they can develop and manage their own internal and external interfaces for deploying multiple services to the consumer. Open Conexon meets these needs head on."

Most systems require a large number of integrations. This has increased the North American cable industry's dependency on platforms that require significant development efforts and third-party licenses. As a result, operators face high costs to enable and support the critical next wave of broadband services.

"Interactive Enterprise architected an open, multi-service platform for its Open Conexon product to address these precise issues," said Higgins.

Interactive Enterprise differentiates Open Conexon on its ability to reduce operating costs by as much as 40 percent with a 7-12 month ROI. Further, Open Conexon enables operators to define services and develop interfaces into third-party systems such as digital head-ends, telephone switches, billing systems, etc. This gives operators complete control over the end-to-end creation and delivery of services and protects their investments. It also enables the rapid uptake of services by subscribers, thus increasing operators' average revenue per user (ARPU).

Open Conexon is in customer trials and will be available in December 2003.

Further, Open Conexon enables operators to define any service and develop interfaces into third-party complementary applications such as digital head-ends, telephone switches, billing systems, etc. This gives operators complete control over the end-to-end creation and delivery of services and protects their investments. It also enables the rapid uptake of services by subscribers, thus increasing the service provider's average revenue per user (ARPU).
