Software orchestrates intricate business processes.

Press Release Summary:

AptSoft Director(TM) v4.0 for complex event processing (CEP) lets business users define processes that detect, correlate, and respond to dynamic patterns of events occurring across IT infrastructure. Running in Windows, Unix, or Linux environments, it lets users create and link individual event handling rules into object-oriented, non-linear, workflow-like structures and define automated Interaction Policies. Object-oriented metadata layer enables complete reusability of components.

AptSoft Director 4.0 for CEP Orchestrates Intricate Business Processes Using Innovative Complex Event Processing Technology

Lets business users define processes that detect, correlate and respond to dynamic patterns of events occurring across the IT infrastructure

BURLINGTON, Mass., Feb. 13 / -- AptSoft Corporation, a pioneer in an emerging technology capability known as complex event processing (CEP), today announced availability of AptSoft Director(TM) 4.0 for CEP. In this latest version of its flagship product, AptSoft greatly reduces the effort needed to design, deploy and maintain complicated yet critical business processes.

Fraud reduction, ongoing compliance and organic revenue growth are just a few of the pressing business issues where event-triggered, non-linear, dynamic and closed-loop processes tax the limits of current technologies such as business process management (BPM) and business rules engines (BRE). Compared with these traditional tools, AptSoft Director 4.0 is in the vanguard of a new approach, CEP, which reduces by a factor of 10 the cost of effectively correlating, evaluating and responding to countless patterns of business "events."

The new Design Center in AptSoft Director 4.0 for CEP makes implementing complex processes simple without requiring programming. Running in Windows, Unix or Linux environments, business-level users can employ the Director Design Center to create and link individual event handling rules into non- linear, workflow-like structures called "EventFlows," and also define automated "Interaction Policies" that respond to intricate cross-application event patterns. Object oriented and fully modular, EventFlows and Interaction Policies, once created, are easy to update and can be re-used to improve efficiency.

"We didn't set out looking for a CEP solution, but ended up going with AptSoft Director 4.0 for CEP after finding traditional approaches, including BPM and rules engine technologies, would not be able to handle the variability and complexity of our programs," said Ian Rushton, vice president of technology strategy at Matria Healthcare, a leading provider of comprehensive health enhancement programs.

From industry-leading disease management to 24-hour nurse lines, Matria relies on its advanced technology infrastructure to drive highly customized programs and services that help employers, health plans and government agencies reduce costs and improve outcomes. AptSoft Director 4.0 for CEP will help Matria meet increasingly intricate service level demands of a rapidly growing customer base and enable greater flexibility in its referral rules.

AptSoft Director 4.0 for CEP represents a milestone in the development of functionality required for true complex event processing. Key new features include improvements to critical CEP areas, including: elegant user interfaces that don't require programming, an object-oriented metadata layer for complete reusability of components, "on-the-fly" data retrieval to eliminate data integration and support for high availability through clustering.

As part of a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), AptSoft Director 4.0 for CEP joins a leading trend in utilizing Web Services Description Language (WSDL) to automatically populate and configure events and actions. To further simplify integration, the new version includes multi-protocol embedded SOAP connectors.

"Complex event processing technology uniquely addresses requirements for the next generation of highly responsive business process oriented applications," said Frank Chisholm, president and CEO of AptSoft. "Release 4.0 represents a reliable, scalable technology platform making the power of CEP accessible to those who need it most."
