Demand Management, Inc. Announces New Service Parts Management Module

Company adds service parts and repairables management to its prominent Requirements Planning(TM) product

ST. LOUIS, Oct. 9 -- Demand Management, Inc., (DMI) a global resource for managing the supply chain, announced today the addition of service parts management module to its replenishment software solution. The module automates the process of planning and aligning service parts inventories, resources, and processes to ensure optimal customer service and response with minimal risk and cost.

The functionality incorporated in the Demand Solutions Requirements Planning(TM) (DS RP) product allows customers who produce repairable products to plan for their return and repair based on future demand. The module predicts failure rates based on historical trends. It also takes into account the ratio of returned items that cannot be repaired.

The Service Parts Management module has five key features that will enable users to:
-- Predict failure rate based on historical data.
-- Reduce obsolescence by allowing companies to reduce inventory on short-lifecycle products and help offset write-offs.
-- Manage returned 'core units for repair' inventory.
-- Provide repair options that look across the entire network from independent and dependent demand, giving companies the ability to repair all returns or only repair based on forecast consumption.
-- Plan for the repair or replacement of the defective components in the finished goods; then plan inventory to support the failed component.

The Service Parts Management module will assist any supplier of repairable parts, such as those in the automotive, high-tech or electronics industries, to obtain a higher level of visibility into inventory plans by factoring in product failure rates.

"Working closely with our customers, we've built flexibility into this component to support high volume or short-lifecycle products," said Bill Harrison, president of Demand Management, Inc. "Our offering makes DS RP(TM) the software of choice for businesses that need this capability but don't want to invest in a whole separate system."
