Press Release Summary:
Part of E2e(TM) Solutions for Consumer Goods, Pallet and Load Optimization technology offers 2-stage optimization that first directs pallet build process, then optimizes placement during loading of trailers. It handles non-standard shapes such as cylinders, barrels, and totes, while considering stackability, crushability, nesting, and other positioning factors. Trailer load plan computes weight over axles and side-to-side balance specific to each trailer type.
Original Press Release:
RedPrairie Pallet and Load Optimization Technology Ensures Efficient, Safe and Compliant Shipments for the CPG Industry
Milwaukee, WI - RedPrairie Corporation, a world leading consumer driven optimization company, announced today that its new Pallet and Load Optimization technology, part of its integrated E2e(TM) Solutions for Consumer Goods, reduces freight costs and product damage while improving shipment safety and compliance with customer and legislative trailer loading requirements. This unique two-stage optimization first efficiently directs the pallet build process, and then optimizes their placement during the loading of trailers.
CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) and Food & Beverage manufacturers, with products such as paper, beverages and food stuffs that can be heavy, crushable and hard to stack, are facing many new challenges in complying with retailer mandates while addressing initiatives for "green" supply chains and cost reduction. At the same time, rising fuel costs, driver shortages and hours of service rules make it imperative that trailer usage is maximized within weight and balance limits of governing bodies. This all puts tremendous pressure on logisticians to optimize the pallet build and trailer loading processes. RedPrairie has responded with integrated pallet and load optimization technology.
Comments Tom Kozenski, RedPrairie vice president product strategy, "Our customers came to us with these issues because they impact how they pick inventory and load trailers on a daily basis in their DCs. By integrating pallet build technology with our warehouse management workflows and trailer loading functionality with our transportation load optimization, we can address these challenges more effectively. This geometric analysis and load construction can increase trailer volume utilization by three to six percent."
By integrating pallet and load optimization with the WMS, the most efficient inventory allocation and pick sequencing is performed to feed the pallet build process, minimizing travel time and labor cost. Integration to the TMS allows the load plan to comply with route sequencing and stop rules as well as rules for loading into freezer, cooler and dry goods trailer zones and segregation of incompatible shipments.
RedPrairie's Pallet and Load optimization solution can handle non-standard shapes such as cylinders, barrels, totes and special packaging. It considers stackability, crushability, nesting and other positioning factors to build pallets and loads that are safe and minimize the potential for damage. And the trailer load plan computes weight over the axles and side-to-side balance specific to each trailer type to ensure compliance with transportation regulations. The result is shipments that are efficient, safe and compliant, and support initiatives for retailer compliance, green supply chains and cost reduction.
About RedPrairie Corporation
RedPrairie is a world leading consumer driven optimization company. Built on an advanced Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) developed over the past 10 years, the RedPrairie integrated suite of solutions offers on-demand capabilities to over 25,000 sites worldwide for many of the world's largest companies.
RedPrairie's E2e(TM) solutions synchronize people and products throughout the customer buying cycle to ensure goods reach the right place at the right time. At the point of sale, this means consumers have access to desired products and that the store is staffed with the right people to help them make their purchases. In the production cycle, it means suppliers and manufacturers time and synchronize shipments and production based on demand signals from the retailer. And in the back room of the store, it means having the least amount of inventory, solving the "last yard" problem of the retail supply chain.
With 20 global service sites and standard service methods that have been validated over the last 30 years, RedPrairie provides unparalleled service and support. For additional information, call 1.877.733.7724, or access www.RedPrairie.com.
