New Release of IBM WebSphere Business Integration Adapters Features New and Enhanced Adapters
Overview
WebSphere® Business Integration Adapters help you integrate your
disparate systems by pulling and uniting information from:
o Packaged, custom, and legacy applications
o Technology protocols
o Mainframe systems
o Databases
o Industry and cross-industry solutions
These prepackaged adapters support multiple brokers, providing quicker time-to-market and greater flexibility and adaptability when integrating systems. In addition to providing new cross-industry application and technology adapters, this release of
WebSphere Business Integration Adapters also includes new adapters supporting the insurance, energy and utility, automotive, and electronics industries.
New in this release:
o New industry-specific and cross-industry adapters.
o Each adapter has its own media pack and license to govern usage.
o WebSphere Business Integration Adapters no longer support Microsoft(TM) Windows NT(TM).
o WebSphere Business Integration Adapter for Retek is being
withdrawn from marketing. To integrate with Retek applications
consider the WebSphere Business Integration Adapter for JMS,
which provides publish/subscribe messaging.

Key prerequisites
A copy of the WebSphere Business Integration Adapter Framework,
either purchased on a per-server or per-establishment basis, is required for each server to which adapters are connected. WebSphere Business Integration Adapter Framework is also required to deploy adapters built using the WebSphere Business Integration Adapter Development Kit. For additional information, and for information about other prerequisites, refer to the Hardware requirements and Software requirements sections.
