Software offers expert system laser processing.

Press Release Summary:

Laser Programming and Nesting Software v3.6 can determine and select best size sheet for parts nest. It automatically performs sequencing, process optimization, and feature avoidance, and adjusts part programs and codes to each machine model's speed, acceleration/deceleration, and processing capabilities. Software allows nest file to be used by more than one model laser without rebuilding nest. Windows-style graphics allow part files and nests to be created offline.

Original Press Release:

CINCINNATI Laser Programming and Nesting Software Brings "Expert System" Processing to Varying Needs

New version 3.6 features more than 30 major improvements for higher proficiency and productivity

JULY, 2003 - New Version 3.6 of CINCINNATI Laser Programming and Nesting Software features more than 30 major improvements to best-in-class "expert system" capabilities. Software upgrades make it easier to add custom NC code or parts to nest layouts, implement feature avoidance, and export DWG and DXF files.

The latest version can determine and select the best size sheet for a parts nest, particularly useful for systems with automated material handling. The versatile software brings "expert system" laser processing, auto-adjust programming capability, and Windows ease of use to varying staff and equipment situations. It provides users more than 15 years of laser application expertise accumulated by Cincinnati Incorporated in solving production problems for customers.

The software automatically performs sequencing, process optimization, and feature avoidance, which otherwise would require manual input by a skilled operator. It automatically adjusts part programs and codes to each machine model's speed, acceleration/deceleration and processing capabilities. This avoids the need to personally write or modify part programs for each laser and enables programs to run at optimum efficiency on different CINCINNATI laser cutting systems.

The Laser Programming and Nesting Software converts standard format drawing files to part programs and machine code without being code-intensive to learn. Easy-to-follow Windows-style graphics allow part files and nests to be created offline, even by non-operators or non-engineers. The software can be used to produce a range of reports and is particularly effective at generating highly accurate time studies for job bidding.

Special software capabilities optimize processing efficiencies. Feature Avoidance allows the laser to run with the head down without risk of crashing into tipped up slugs. Feature Avoidance and Pierce On The Fly can double the output on light gauge materials compared to less advanced programming software. Structured Group Files are especially effective with assemblies comprised of multiple parts, saving time and reducing complexity by allowing the user to specify one structured group name, rather than individual part names.

Part files can be easily batched to create part nests - typically in four minutes or less using existing part programs.
Especially important for laser upgrade or multi-laser operations, the software allows a nest file to be used by more than one model laser without rebuilding the nest. Simply select the laser model and the software automatically generates the appropriate NC code for the nest.

CINCINNATI Laser Programming and Nesting Software is constantly being refined and upgraded as new techniques and features are developed by the application support staff. Upgrades are regularly posted on the company's website (www.e-ci.com ) for download to registered users. This eliminates release delays and allows customers to stay state-of-the-art in their laser processing methodology. Users can simply click on "Check for Updates" under the help menu. The nesting software goes out and checks the web site for software update, informs the user, and offers the opportunity to download and install the new software.
