Meet Tight RTOs and RPOs with minimal system impact
Backup Express Block Level Incremental (BLI) technology enables enterprises to meet stringent RTOs and RPOs for reliable business continuity planning. Instead of using file-level incrementals, Backup Express BLI identifies and copies only the changed blocks, the smallest level of granularity within the files, minimizing storage, CPU and bandwidth used. Unlike other block-level incremental technologies, Backup Express BLI accesses the blocks directly, bypassing the file system, further reducing CPU and application server impact. Thus snapshots can occur more frequently, yielding more recent RPOs.
Changed blocks are stored using advanced technology that creates a virtual-volume image for every point-in-time snapshot. This virtual image can then be mounted as a read-writable LUN in only minutes and made available to the application for a full recovery. Backup Express high-speed recovery utilizes the same regularly-scheduled BLI snapshots - whether for disaster recovery, remote office protection, near-instant access to database applications, Oracle database cloning, or file restores.
