IBM TotalStorage SAN Volume Controller V2.1.0 Enhances Host Interoperability and Increases Data Management Capabilities



Overview
IBM TotalStorage® SAN Volume Controller, a member of the IBM
TotalStorage Open Software Family, expands its support for more diverse storage environments with its latest software release, V2.1.0. This version:
o Delivers greater interoperability to extend the benefits of storage virtualization to even more customer environments
o Significantly expands storage software support for operating
systems running on attached host servers
o Supports host servers running Novell NetWare, including clustering; additionally supported is clustering for HP UNIX® hosts based on HP ServiceGuard, and for Sun Solaris hosts based on Veritas Cluster Server
o Supports SUSE SLES 8 on pSeries® and BladeCenter(TM) JS20, HS20, HS40
o Supports AIX® 5.2 on BladeCenter JS20
o Supports Multipathing I/O (MPIO), Volume Shadow Copy Services
(VSS), and Global Distribution System (GDS) for hosts running
Microsoft(TM) Windows(TM) 2003

In addition to support for EMC Symmetrix DMX Series storage
controllers recently added in SAN Volume Controller V1.2.1, SAN
Volume Controller V2.1.0 improves the connection to non-IBM storage with added support for the Sun StorEdge 9910, 9960, 9970, and 9980 Systems.

V2.1.0 of SAN Volume Controller Storage Software is also designed to simplify data migrations between disparate disk arrays using SAN Volume Controller Migration.
