IBM Tivoli Monitoring for Microsoft.NET Enhances Value of IBM Tivoli Monitoring Environment



Overview

IBM Tivoli® broadens its monitoring offerings with the release of IBM Tivoli Monitoring for Microsoft.NET. The new support allows customers to broaden the monitoring of Microsoft(TM) servers in the enterprise.

IBM Tivoli Monitoring for Microsoft.NET consists of seven features, known as Proactive Analysis Components, that help ensure the availability and optimal performance of the Microsoft.NET environment.

Monitoring is being provided for:

· BizTalk server

· Commerce server

· Content management server

· Host integration server

· Internet security and acceleration server

· SharePoint portal server

· UDDI services that are part of Microsoft Windows(TM) 2003

By leveraging extensive research to identify common problems and weaknesses found in the monitored applications, IBM Tivoli has created a set of "problem signatures," a combination of metrics and thresholds that trigger the Tivoli identify, notify, and cure problem-prevention mechanism.

All of the features of IBM Tivoli Monitoring for Microsoft.NET leverage the IBM Tivoli Monitoring technology. They provide intelligent monitoring of status and resources used by .NET. They provide administrative tasks that can be invoked using IBM Tivoli Monitoring1, IBM Tivoli Enterprise(TM) Console1, or IBM Tivoli Business System Manager.1

The features support the endpoint, server-gateway architecture and integrate with IBM Tivoli Enterprise Console® for event management, IBM Tivoli Data Warehouse for historical reporting, the IBM Tivoli Monitoring Web Health Console for real-time status reporting, and IBM Tivoli Business Systems Manager for a line-of-business view of component and resource health. This technology allows Tivoli to provide a superior, robust management system.
