Software models as-built piping systems.

Press Release Summary:

Integrating CADWorx Plant Professional with fieldPipe for Leica fieldPro, CADWorx fieldPipe for Leica fieldPro includes point-and-shoot component placement, which allows users to point laser at piping item and pick component from specification-driven piping items included with program. Component is then placed exactly in position in pipeline. Software offers bi-directional links between CAD and engineering analysis tools such as CAESAR II and PV Elite.

COADE Introduces CADWorx® FieldPipe for Leica FieldPro

New CADWorx program leverages Leica fieldPipe capabilities and specification-driven CAD modeling to produce AutoCAD-based plant models.

HOUSTON, TEXAS - October 10, 2006 - COADE announced today the release of CADWorx fieldPipe for Leica fieldPro, a new package that integrates CADWorx Plant Professional, the company's industry-leading plant design software for 3D modeling, with fieldPipe for Leica fieldPro. This package is the only product that leverages Leica Geosystem's Leica fieldPipe laser precision capabilities with specification-driven CAD modeling to produce AutoCAD-based plant models. CADWorx fieldPipe comes complete with piping, equipment, steel, HVAC and cable trays capabilities plus it includes CADWorx Equipment, ISOGEN, NavisWorks® Roamer and database links.

Thomas J. Van Laan, PE, the president of COADE, described some of the advantages for designers and engineers. "With CADWorx fieldPipe, the point-and shoot laser sends the data directly into the CADWorx plant design program for 3D modeling at any field location, reducing the climbing and clambering associated with measuring and sketching existing piping systems," Van Laan explained. "This makes as-built work not only easier, faster and more accurate, but also safer for those in the field."

David Danko, laser scanning project manager with Falk-PLI Engineering & Surveying in Indiana, described his experience with the software. "The program was easy to use, and I have not seen a faster, more accurate way of capturing single-line, as-built piping systems. When you're done surveying, the 3D model is completed, eliminating any guess work interpreting the survey data - a great addition to the piping designer's tools."

To deliver these benefits, CADWorx fieldPipe leverages the power and precision of laser technology using Leica's Total Station and Leica fieldPro, allowing users to model any piping system with pinpoint accuracy. Point-and-shoot component placement makes creating as-built models fast and easy. Just set up Total Station, point the laser at a piping item and pick the component from one of the tens of thousands of specification-driven piping components that are included with the program. The component is placed exactly at that position in the pipeline. CADWorx fieldPipe comes with ducting and cable trays and provides full steel and equipment capabilities and built-in clash detection. You can also create automatic isometrics from single- or multiple-pipe runs from your CADWorx fieldPipe models.

CADWorx plant design suite offers intelligent drawing to database connectivity, advanced levels of automation and easy-to-use design tools. Because of these distinct advantages, it has been rapidly adopted by EPC firms and owner operators in the process, power, water treatment, pharmaceutical, food, beverage and semiconductor industries. CADWorx fieldPipe also offers the industry's first and only true bi-directional links between CAD and engineering analysis tools, linking CADWorx with COADE's industry-leading software programs for pipe (CAESAR II) and pressure vessel and exchanger (PV Elite) analysis and design.
