VMware VirtualCenter and VMware ESX Server 2: Manage Your Virtual Environment

Overview
VMware VirtualCenter management software lets you take control of your virtual infrastructure. VirtualCenter provides a central point of control for virtual computing resources. It
leverages virtual computing, storage, and networking, which helps improve data center management and helps reduce cost.

VMware ESX Server 2 is virtual machine software that enables you
to consolidate underutilized physical servers into one or more IBM eserver xSeries® or BladeCenter(TM) servers running VMware. VMware software lets you partition and consolidate systems in the most demanding environments. It is a cost-effective, highly scalable virtual machine platform with advanced resource management capabilities.

Benefits include:
o Allows creation of virtual machines on selected xSeries and
BladeCenter servers
o Enables server consolidation for primary software
o Increases server utilization on production servers
o Consolidates heterogeneous operating system environments
on a single server

VMware Virtual SMP is an add-on module to VMware ESX Server 2 that enables a single virtual machine to span multiple physical processors. These processors work in parallel while using only a single guest operating system image, making it ideal for the most resource-intensive applications.

VMware VMotion gives you the capability to migrate a running
virtual machine from one physical server to another often without service interruption. With VMotion IT organizations can perform zero-downtime maintenance and continuous workload consolidation without impacting user services.

VMware VirtualCenter and VMware ESX Server 2 let you consolidate the most resource-intensive applications onto high-performance xSeries and BladeCenter servers to maximize computing resources and help reduce total cost of ownership.

With VMware ESX Server 2 and Virtual SMP processor upgrades you
can leverage the xSeries XpandOnDemand architecture while increasing the number of processors in use by VMware ESX Server 2 or Virtual SMP.

VMware offerings include one-year software maintenance subscription service.
