Teksouth Introduces IQ Swift, Advanced Tool for Secure File Transfer Management

Military-grade security, unparalleled speed and reliable transfer of large files renders traditional FTP obsolete; helps companies comply with HIPAA, other government data privacy regulations

DALLAS, Feb. 14 - Teksouth Corporation (http://www.teksouth.com/), a veteran provider of data warehouse and data transfer technologies, today announced the immediate availability of the commercial version of IQ Swift(R), the company's revolutionary secure file transfer management system software, designed to eliminate the shortcomings of the long-outdated file transfer protocol (FTP) for quickly and reliably moving important data across computer networks.

The announcement was made today at the Health Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) conference in Dallas, where Teksouth is an exhibitor (booth #242).

IQ Swift solves companies' crucial need for secure, reliable, and extremely fast point-to-point data transfer. It uses a flexible architecture, based on a proven Teksouth-developed solution for the U.S. Department of Defense, and meets or exceeds Government security standards. IQ Swift incorporates built-in controls to automatically manage the entire file transfer process and maintains a detailed record of all activity. This makes IQ Swift ideal for file transfer applications in an increasing number of industries that must comply with government privacy regulations, such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

"Recent initiatives, including HIPAA and Sarbanes-Oxley are calling for every process to be documented, auditable and accountable, including those business processes that incorporate or leverage FTP," Gartner analyst Frank Kenney recently wrote. "The result is that in the immediate future, companies need to consider how they are securing and managing these file transfers." Kenney has also written that managed file transfer (MFT) products are becoming increasingly important as part of an organization's overall integration strategy.

"We have begun evaluating Teksouth's IQ Swift, and believe it will be a valuable asset to both us and our customers," said Tod Henderstein, Sales Director at Med Image, a medical imaging processing company based in Troy, Michigan. "We have multiple customers worldwide who need to transport data rapidly, reliably and securely between multiple business sites in a HIPAA- compliant manner. We have found that IQ Swift is immeasurably superior to FTP, and meets our data transfer process requirements better than other options we have reviewed."

IQ Swift easily and powerfully handles the transfer of very large files, in a sliver of the time required with traditional FTP, and with far greater reliability. A recent Teksouth benchmark test transferred 1.72 gigabytes of information in 260 files between two points on either side of the continental United States, using both IQ Swift and FTP. With IQ Swift, all 260 files were successfully transmitted over a T1 line, received and ready to use in 17 minutes, with absolutely no packet loss. Using FTP, transmission of the same file set took 25 times longer with only 146 of the 260 files received; added time was required for decompression.

"We believe that IQ Swift has the potential to make FTP obsolete, particularly when secure file transmission and audit of activity is mandated," said David Reeves, Teksouth's Marketing Director. "The volume of data and files companies must retain and use grows every day. Concurrently, the security and reliability of data transfers is increasingly important, even down to the desktop level. IQ Swift is a major step forward in helping companies meet file transfer security needs, and fulfilling both current and emerging regulatory requirements for audit of file transfer activity." Reeves noted that IQ Swift is easily implemented, has a familiar interface for ease of use, and delivers leading-edge performance responsive to current demands.

More information about IQ Swift, including pricing, is available from the Teksouth website or through the company's nationwide network of resellers.
